Zanzibar Stone Town (Prison Island & Sandbank Tours)

Prison Island - Changuu Private Island - Upon arrival in Zanzibar, guests are warmly welcomed by Jambo Trips staff and escorted to their hotel. After check-in, they embark on a full-day excursion to Prison Island and Sandbank, where they can delve into history, enjoy snorkeling, and savor seafood. The day concludes with a return to Stone Town and a visit to the Forodhani Fishmarket for a delightful dining experience at a floating restaurant, followed by a transfer back to the hotel.

Stone Town City - (Stone Town & Spice Tour)

Stone Town - After breakfast, guests are picked up for a guided tour of Stone Town. This walking tour explores the vibrant and historic UNESCO World Heritage site, “Stone Town,” with knowledgeable guides sharing both amusing and poignant stories. Highlights include visits to the Anglican Cathedral of Christ (a former slave market), House of Wonders, the Palace Museum (People’s Palace), Darajani Market, St Joseph’s Catholic Cathedral, Dr. Livingstone’s House, and the Old Fort. Guests will also experience Zanzibar’s lively market, winding alleyways, intricately carved doors, two cathedrals, and numerous mosques. The tour continues to a spice farm, where guests can enjoy lunch or begin their Spice Tour.

Jambo Spice Farm - This half-day excursion to spice farms, located a few kilometers from Zanzibar town, offers a wonderful opportunity to explore Zanzibar’s countryside and connect with local residents. The guided walking tour meanders through villages and spice plantations, allowing guests to taste exotic fruits and discover rare tropical plants. After the tour, guests are invited to enjoy a sumptuous traditional Swahili lunch in a local home, where they can savor the spices they have seen. The day concludes with a return to the hotel in Stone Town.

Stone Town in Zanzibar Town - (Ocean Safari Adventure Day)

Menai Bay - This full-day adventure begins in Fumba, a renowned local fishing village on the southwest coast of Stone Town. It is the perfect starting point for exploring the natural beauty of the Menai Bay Conservation Area, a protected marine ecosystem covering 470 square kilometers (180 sq mi) developed with local community involvement.

Guests board a traditional wooden dhow, equipped with a motor and sails, along with all necessary safety gear and a skilled crew. The journey takes them to snorkeling sites teeming with marine life. Guests can enjoy dolphin watching, snorkeling, and swimming, and savor the flavors of Zanzibar at a desert island restaurant on Kwale Island. The legendary Ocean Safari seafood barbecue features fish, calamari, and slipper lobster, served hot off the grill, along with a variety of tropical fruits grown in Zanzibar. The tour concludes with a drive to Nungwi Beach for a beach hotel stay.

Baraka Natural Aquarium - Nungwi - After breakfast, guests are taken for an unforgettable experience where they can swim, feed, and interact with friendly marine creatures, including sea turtles. The Zanzibar Turtles Tour focuses on introducing guests to endangered species such as Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas) and Hawksbills (Eretmochelys imbricata). This tour takes place in Nungwi, where a conservation project is dedicated to protecting turtles from extinction, as they are threatened by local hunting for food.

At the center, guests can observe various turtle species and sizes, and enjoy feeding and swimming with them. This experience follows a tour of Nungwi Village, where the turtle center is located. The day concludes with a return to the hotel, allowing guests to relax and enjoy their day.

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport Terminal 3 - Departure is always bittersweet, but in Zanzibar, it’s never “goodbye” but “see you soon.” After breakfast, guests are driven to Zanzibar International Airport (Abeid Amani Karume International Airport), marking the end of their itinerary with us. The hope is that the wonderful experiences shared will inspire a future reunion.
