A Journey Beyond the Itinerary

The sun had barely risen over the Ionian Sea when I found myself on the island of Zakynthos, ready to embark on a full-day tour that promised to reveal the island’s most breathtaking sights. As a cultural anthropologist, I am always drawn to places where history and natural beauty intertwine, and Zakynthos seemed to offer just that. Our guide for the day, Sakis, greeted us with a wave and a smile, setting a warm and welcoming tone for the adventure ahead.

We deviated from the planned itinerary, a decision that allowed us to stay ahead of the crowds and savor the panoramic views of the famous Navagio Beach, also known as Shipwreck Beach, in peaceful solitude.
