Excellent 👍 - The trek was everything that I hoped it would be, although it was very hot. The guide Ewel, was very informative and made the tour interesting. 4 day trek from Ularu to Alice Springs. Drinking warm water wasn’t fun, would have been great to have chilled water to drink. The safari tent is a must.. the swag was not a good idea, food was nice as well

An amazing 4 day tour Uluru to Alice Springs - Yule / Ewel (sorry if it’s spelled wrong) was absolutely amazing. He was very prepared and organised for every situation, brilliant cook and very knowledgeable. The trip wouldn’t have been as enjoyable without him. Thanks so much for a once in a lifetime experience!

A great trip - This trip captured the true central Australian experience, all that is there to learn about, marvel at and take memories away with you. Tour guide Rachel had excellent knowledge over a broad range and worked hard to make sure the most was made out of the day (Be prepared for early mornings), but it is worth it.

A Wonderful Trip! Thank you Aaron! - We had the most wonderful time! So much fun and so informative. We had the greatest guide: huge thanks to Aaron! He is such a gifted, fun, positive person. So knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind, professional and hardworking! We all gelled immediately as a group thanks to his great communication skills and warm sense of humor. His sense of wonder at the beautiful places we visited was completely infectious, and we all had a terrific time thanks to his wonderful “can do” spirit! Thank you, Aaron, you’re the BEST!!!

'Nailed the brief' - Flew direct to Uluru from the east coast and stepped straight on board the AWD bus with 20 internationals. James our guide was fresh to the Autopia group, but remarkably charismatic, intelligent and entertaining. Importantly; reassuring and capable of leading us into the outback. So much fun to experience the small group personalities reveal and a breathtaking, never- forget red-centre experience for my Daughter and I. Overnight relax in Alice, then a next day flight home. 'Perfect'

A Magical Outback Experience - An amazing adventure in the Red Centre. The scenery is jyst spectacular. We camped in dome really unique and private camp sites and the tents with beds were surprisingly comfy. Our guide James was fantastic. We was very knowledgeable and had a real.passion for the country and indigenous culture. He also made everyone feel.very welcome and included. It was good to.have a smaller group and it was a wide range of ages and nationalities. I would highly recommend this tour for people looking for an authentic Outback experience. PS there were a few walks that were a bit challenging for me but James curated alternatives where available.

Splendid group tour - Such great tour with the absolute GOAT tour guide James, very experienced and friendly. And a friendly and active group that helps create a happy aura when traveling. Would be better if an axe and glove is provided when collecting firewoods for campfire

Amazing guides! - We just returned from this tour, and we are in awe of our guide CJ and her trainee Mikki. Upon learning that CJ normally does this tour entirely on her own, we can’t even imagine the Superwoman powers she must possess to achieve this. We cannot say enough wonderful things about CJ. On almost no sleep for four days, she never lost her enthusiasm, positivity, good humor, and most of all patience, all while managing 18-20 people on a schedule through hikes, meals, sleeping arrangements, toilet breaks, giving talks about flora, fauna, geology, anthropology, and all other relevant subjects, and answering questions about ALL of the above plus herself. And when she was done, she answered MORE questions about all of that! I saw her get frustrated exactly once, it was well-earned, and lasted exactly ten seconds before she was smiling again. Did I mention she had a trainee? Mikki was very helpful to us all, also answering many questions about logistics and some about plants and trees among other things, and she was an amazing cook!! She’s going to be great at this job. But still, she was a trainee, and that brings me back to CJ, who, while doing everything else, was also explaining things to and answering questions for Mikki. In short, our trip would not have been nearly the experience it was without CJ. If you go on a tour, request HER. Our goal in taking this camping tour was to spend time in The Outback and get up close to everything. While we didn’t see the wildlife we’d hoped for, except for birds, this tour did achieve that. We saw breathtaking natural sites and landscapes, sacred and historical/active Aboriginal places and were introduced to Aboriginal culture to the extent that those outside of their communities are allowed. CJ was a wealth of knowledge and there were hardly any questions she could not answer. This trip has been a dream for 35 years and it did not disappoint. There were some things about the tour we did not like at all, however, but these things were company issues and had nothing to do with CJ or the location. We were 22 people packed into a motor coach that fit 22 people including the three people that sat in the cab (so yes, that included a guest). We all had our daily gear, plus our sheets/sleeping bags in there with us, the seats were small, and there was no leg room. I’m average height. This would not have been as bad if we were going only short distances, but we were traveling for many hours most days, and we were very uncomfortable and it was claustrophobic. We guests were talking to each other about it. It wasn’t until the last day when several people completed the three-day tour that those of us on the four-day tour finally had space to get comfortable. Despite the coach’s stated capacity (21 plus driver), this was far too many people in it for this type of tour. Also, when the group was 22 people there was not enough food. Food was served buffet style at each meal, and if you were unfortunate enough to be one of the last 5-6 people at the end of the line, there were some food items you didn’t get at all, and there was very little left of the rest. It got a bit better when 2 people ended their tour after two days, but still not great until the last dinner and breakfast when there was plenty. This was especially a problem because we were doing a lot of hiking and walking and that makes you hungry. To say guides are overworked is an understatement. CJ had Mikki’s help on this tour, but I cannot imagine why anyone would do this job unless they truly had a passion for it. You are the only person responsible for 20 people on hikes. You do all the cooking and food prep unless the guests are kind enough to help you. You get little sleep. You are the only driver. You have to fix anything that isn’t working at the campsite. You have to solve any problem. You are responsible for providing a wealth of knowledge on a plethora of subjects. And you must be happy and enthusiastic at all times. In my opinion, this tour should be conducted with a minimum of two guides. It would be better for the guides and for the guest experience as it would help tasks get completed more quickly. We recommend this tour if you set your expectations. Do not expect this trip to be relaxing. You will be up very early and will be on the move, getting to the campsite late. Expect to contribute work - anything from helping with food prep, to doing your own dishes, to gathering firewood. Offer your guide your help, they need it. This is camping. There is a lot of dust and dirt. There is no electricity other than an adequate power bank at the kitchen to charge phones. Bring a flashlight for use while your phone charges. There are lots of showers but little time the first night, two showers the second night, none the third. Plan accordingly and take advantage of swimming opportunities on the third and fourth day, your fellow travelers will thank you. While the amenities at the campsites may decrease, the beauty increases so it’s worth it. The second night especially is incredible and is at a place that for the exclusive use of Autopia, so you can’t get that anywhere else! Despite the things we would change, we do think this is a great, up close way to experience the Outback!
