Great tour of area around the Minster - Dave was a great guide. He took us to areas we have never been to before and plied us with many interesting facts. He almost seemed to tailor the tour to our interests by asking us what we would like to see next. His tour was full of interesting history.

Great history delivered by a passionate natural historian - Honestly, Dave is a great tour guide and the sort of bloke you will really like to meet. I chose his tour because I am very interested in history and a history professor had given him 5 stars. He knows his stuff inside out and delivers it very well in a very clear voice, a legacy of having worked for 30 years in a noisy factory. At the end of the tour he offered to walk me to where I was staying and we diverted along the way to two fascinating sites that I had not planned to visit. It's hard to believe that there can be a beautifully peaceful and holy shrine on The Shambles, but there is. It's the former home of Saint Margaret Clitheroe, pressed to death for hiding a Catholic priest. Then a Church just off Piccadilly called Holy Trinity Goodramgate, which remains consecrated but is only used twice a year for services. I have often seen box pews but have never before seen almost the entire Church consisting of box pews. It really creates an effect. For £5 you can buy a pamphlet about the Church written by the Conservation Trust. I don't have high expectations of these sort of pamphlets but I read this cover to cover without a break. You can almost sense the Reformation taking place as the Church tries to balance initial Catholic instincts with the varying tides of Protestantism It's like the context to a CJ Sansom novel. I had a great day and it's thanks to a really nice Yorkshire bloke and gentleman called Dave Haw. Incidentally, Dave can also tell some really funny stories with a shrewd Yorkshire manner!

Dave Haw's Terrific Walking Tour - Myself, and 7 mates from Australia, were travelling in the UK for the 6 Nations and stayed in York for 3 days between matches. There we decided to get a good look at York and booked Dave Haw's Tour. So glad we did. Dave is a local (well Leeds is local) and took us around York city showing us all the highlights of which there are many. His local knowledge and Yorkshire mannerisms made the tour. It was only a two hour tour but Dave is so involved in the history of the place his tour just went on and on, well over 4 hours. We had to break away as we had another booking, otherwise we would have done more. The details of his presentation was up to the group, a brief overview, a little bit more detailed, or the Dave Haw "rambling" as he put it. A great walking tour presented by a great character who loves his job and knows a bit about it. "Let's go for a wander o'er ear", and we certainly did that. All the boys commented on how good it was and how well Dave put it together. Well worth it. Can't recommend Dave enough.

Dave is a fountain of knowledge, a tour not to be missed. - Whist staying at the Guy Fawkes Inn we met Dave in there, he was running a walking tour of York, so we went on it. Best day we have ever had. Having been to York on numerous occasions Dave took his tour on places I have never seen before, his knowledge of the city is unrivalled. Initially it was for 2 hours but we and the others stayed with Dave all day. So informative and what a humorous guy. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would definitely recommend anyone visiting York look out for Dave and join him. You will not regret it. Thanks Dave.

Help me. - Tremendous tour. I have never once seen a guide power through a lack of knowledge or people skills before. If you like a tour involving people shouting for no reason, and zero accurate content, sign up! Be prepared for a jam packed day, as Davw wont stop. He wont. Ever. Make him stop, please
