After the tour, feel free to linger and enjoy the ambiance. Our bar is open from 11 am to 11 pm, seven days a week.

Great gin tour - Probably our best ever gin distillery tour at the Hooting Owl distillery in York.
We were the only ones booked on the tour, so it was like having our own private tour. Tom was great, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He talked us through the history of the company, and the flavour profile of the main gins produced.
G&T on arrival, detailed explanation of the gin making and the company, then tasting of 7 gins,, followed by another G&T.
Of course we couldn't agree on our favourite, so we brought 2 bottles to take away.

Incredible, absolutely brilliant tour! - Attended the Gin tour on Saturday afternoon, firstly the Lounge bar itself it's absolutely beautiful, so well laid out, with brilliant seating and decor. Received a welcome drink on arrival, and our tour guide Tom came over and introduced himself, what a genuine great, funny, knowledgeable individual, he made the tour what it was, so easy to converse with, gave so much detail about the story of Hooting Owl, brilliant! Tasted lots of gins, and also received a full drink before departing and a absolutely fabulous personalised gift. Without a doubt the best tour of this type we have ever done. Thank you Hooting Owl and thank-you Tom for making our weekend.

Great way to spend an afternoon - We had a great time and learned a lot on the tour and tasting. After a welcome cocktail (featuring the house gin) we were welcomed into the distillery area to learn about the distilling process and history of Hooting Owl. The tour was followed by a generous tasting of several gins and rum. It was interesting to taste the variations in gin based on the botanicals used. Finally we were treated to another cocktail of our choice. Tom was a great host - very friendly and presented the information in an interesting way. Highly recommended!

Exceptional Experience - A great way to spend a couple of hours. For £30 we had a welcome drink on arrival of the signature gin; a group visit (14 people) to the distillery with an explanation of the distilling process; tasting of 5 gins and a rum and another drink to finish. Not to mention the personallised gift. The tour was hosted by the excellent Tom who was very engaging with all guests and was very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Distillery tour guide and lunch - Tom was excellent, witty and very informative.
Fantastic value, 2 free drinks, 6 samples and personalised gin glass gifted at the end.
An amazing two hours, cannot recommend highly enough and the lunch beforehand was excellent too.
All staff very friendly and welcoming.

A must do experience in York - This was amazing. The tour was £30. It said on the website to last 1 hour 15 minute but my tour was 1 hour 30 minutes. But it was amazing. We saw the distillery room and tasted lots of different gins and other products. There is a lot that goes into the tour. I was with 2 other people and it was personalised. I really enjoyed the smaller group. The vibes were great. Tom our guide was amazing and knowledgeable.
This is a must do in York.

A great way to spend an afternoon - We visited on a cold Saturday afternoon but got a very warm welcome from Mark & the team. The distillery tour was fun & interesting , a good length too .The tasting experience was great , we really enjoyed Marks delivery of facts & stories , he was a great host .The tour included 2 full size gin & mixers , tastings of 6 gins & 2 rums along with the lovely touch of a personalized gin glass to take away .Tour attendees also receive discount on full sized bottles , trying to decide which one is the hard part .
We would recommend this tour to anyone ,we will be returning to sample more of the beautiful gins

Good fun, good food and drink - Lovely homely pub. We arrived early and had a drink then Mark our guide did our tour which was fun and interesting. We enjoyed the gin tasking and good that everybody was accommodating. We had a good group of people which also made the day. We stayed on after the tour and had pizza which was amazing. Great staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely clean toilets

Excellent - Lauren and her team were brilliant in organising a Christmas do for myself and 8 others. Friday night tour and gin tasting was excellent, as was the pizza! A great time and fantastic atmosphere. Thanks again to all at the Hooting Owl.
