- Saint Hripsime Church - St. Hripsime Church is a renowned ecclesiastical building in the city of Echmiadzin. It is a refined and exemplary model of cross-cupola churches in Armenia, celebrated for its architectural simplicity and grandeur. The tomb of the Christian martyr Virgin Hripsime is located in the church’s sacristy. This site is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
- Saint Gayane Church - Situated near the Echmiadzin Cathedral, against the backdrop of Ararat’s white peaks, the silhouette of St. Gayane Church’s cupola is visible. Constructed in the 7th century, it belongs to the domed-basilica style. According to legend, this church was built over the tomb of Virgin Gayane, who was martyred for spreading Christianity. This site is included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
- Echmiadzin Monastery - The center of the Armenian Apostolic Church, St. Echmiadzin, is located 20 km from Yerevan. The Cathedral of Echmiadzin, founded in the early fourth century, is among the world’s oldest churches. Legend has it that the church was built where Jesus Christ appeared to Gregory The Illuminator in a dream. The church’s interior is adorned with frescoes by the Hovnatanyan family. The Catholicos’ residence and the Theological Academy are situated near the Cathedral. This site is part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
- Zvartnots Temple - This magnificent temple showcases the skill and daring creativity of 7th-century Armenian architects. Built on several columns, it survived only until the 10th century. During early 20th-century excavations, many experts were skeptical of the reconstruction model designed by the renowned Armenian architect Toros Toramanyan, as it seemed improbable that such a vast and intricate structure could have been built at that time. Remarkably, a bas-relief from St. Chapelle Church in Paris, depicting Zvartnots Temple with Noah’s Ark, supported Toramanyan’s model. This site is included in the UNESCO Cultural World Heritage List.
