• Observation Point Trailhead - Look for the sign for Observation Point Trail. For a higher vantage point to view Old Faithful’s eruption, this path leads to an ideal spot. It’s an uphill journey of about a mile round trip, taking roughly 30 minutes.
• Anemone Geysers - Named by geologist Arnold Hague, who thought the vents resembled the petals of an anemone flower.
• Beehive Geyser - Resembling a large, harmless beehive on the ground, it surprises by shooting boiling water 100 feet into the air! The Beehive erupts for 5 minutes every 10 to 20 hours.
• Marmot Cave Geyser - Known as “Marmot Cave Geyser,” a yellow-bellied marmot once lived in the cave but moved out years ago. It seems that water heated by magma isn’t ideal for marmot homes!
• Lion Geyser - To the left, spot a lion, a lioness, and two cubs. They’re not real lions, but cone geysers! Interestingly, their names don’t come from their appearance.
• Sawmill Geyser - Appearing like a bluish hot spring, it erupts with a sound reminiscent of a whirring sawmill. Its underground connection to a complex of thermal features makes its eruptions unpredictable.
• Grand Geyser - On the right is “Grand Geyser,” the most powerful predictable geyser in the world! It’s a fountain-type geyser, so expect a pool rather than cones. If Old Faithful impresses, wait until you see this one.
• Beauty Pool - To the right is a stunning hydrothermal feature named “Beauty Pool.” It’s a blue-green hot spring encircled by orange heat-loving microbes, known as thermophiles.
• Chromatic Pool - This is Beauty Pool’s sibling, Chromatic Pool. Though smaller at 30 feet in diameter, its colors are vibrant! The pool’s temperature is around 133.1 degrees—too hot for a shower, too cold for coffee.
• Giant Geyser - The cone of Giant Geyser is made of geyserite or sinter, standing about 12 feet tall. Some say it resembles the Coliseum in Rome! It’s one of Yellowstone’s tallest geysers, but not the only one in this area.
• Grotto Geyser - Straight ahead is Grotto Geyser, nearly the site of a disaster during the 1870 expedition!
• Morning Glory Pool - Named for its resemblance to morning glory flowers, the Morning Glory Pool features colors that vary with temperature: green for hot, yellow for very hot, orange for warm, and red for moderately warm.
• Daisy Geyser - Daisy Geyser is among Yellowstone’s most predictable geysers, erupting every 2 to 4 hours for about 4 minutes. Its unique fountain streams at an angle to the ground!
• Crested Pool - Crested Pool is 42 feet deep with an average temperature of 191 degrees, nearly as hot as the hottest cup of coffee.
• Castle Geyser - Castle Geyser is notable for its massive calcified cone. It erupts every 10 to 12 hours, with eruptions lasting about 20 minutes and reaching 90 feet high. After the main eruption, steam hisses for around 35 minutes.
• Old Faithful Inn - This is no ordinary inn. Designed by Robert Reamer to blend with the park, it features a foundation of rhyolite from Yellowstone’s caldera and walls made from local lodgepole pine trees.
