• Imjingak Pyeonghoa-Nuri Park - Upon reaching Imjingak Peace Park, visitors will explore the park with a guide, which features a ticket office, tourist attractions, restrooms, and snack bars. The attractions include notable monuments such as the Statue of Peace, Mangbaedan, Freedom Bridge, and the Jangdan Station steam locomotive. The guide’s expert commentary provides a deeper understanding of these sites. After the tour, visitors will board the bus and proceed to the checkpoint.
• Bridge of Freedom - The Freedom Bridge, located in Imjingak, is a historic structure built after the Korean War. It served as a passage for prisoners of war returning to South Korea during the armistice. The name “Freedom Bridge” symbolizes their return from captivity. Today, it stands as a reminder of Korea’s division and the post-war events.
• Mangbaedan - Mangbaedan is a memorial altar for those separated from their families during the Korean War. Unable to return to their North Korean hometowns, they used this site to bow towards their ancestral homes. It remains a place of homage, especially during traditional holidays, for those wishing to honor their families.
• The Third Tunnel - Visitors arrive at the Third Tunnel, a prominent infiltration tunnel in South Korea. Among the four known tunnels, this one is the most visited. It stretches 1,635 meters in length, with a height and width of approximately 2 meters each. Situated 73 meters underground, it takes about 20 minutes for tourists to reach the border. Safety helmets are mandatory due to steep slopes and numerous stones around the tunnel.
• Dora Observatory - Located atop Dorasan Mountain in the DMZ area, Dora Observatory is about five minutes from the bus parking area. Inside, a large window offers views of North Korean territory, including the Kaesong Industrial Complex, several statues of dictators, the JSA, the border between the Koreas, a mock village, and guard posts. Before arriving, a tour guide provides detailed explanations of the North Korean area.
• Tongilchon-gil - Tongilchon Village is the final stop on the DMZ Tour and the largest settlement in the DMZ area. Established for international propaganda with government support in the 1970s, the village was modeled after the Israeli Kibbutz. It is home to about 400 residents, most of whom are involved in agriculture.
