Go on this tour with Max - he’s amazing! - Max led us brilliantly through an exploration of the French concession and its amazing food. Max was a perfect host, taking care to engage with everyone in the group and making sure everyone was happy. We really enjoyed the tour, but especially enjoyed Max’s company and the atmosphere he created in the group. Can’t recommend Max and the tour highly enough - it was brilliant!

A 5-star experience - Our Lost Plate dinner tour in Shanghai was an absolute highlight, thanks to Sylvia. Managing a group of eight (strangers, at that!) is no small feat, but she handled it effortlessly. She kept everyone engaged, making sure we all had fun, and created a lively, welcoming atmosphere throughout the evening. Her energy and organization meant we could relax and enjoy the food, the stories, and each other’s company.
A truly 5-star experience from start to finish.

Fabulous and yummy - Sue was fabulous. The tour was way more than expected. Typically food tours we have been on give you skimpy tastings of different foods, but the servings on this tour was most generous and exceptionally tasty. Sue was informative, very friendly and very attentive to the needs of the group. Loved it!

Pleasant and professional guide. - Cathy was an exceptionally pleasant and professional guide. She made sure no one felt excluded and took the time to make everyone feel comfortable and fully involved in the activity. She adapted her approach to each person, regardless of their cultural background, and handled everything with thoughtful attention. Her kindness and sweetness added a warm touch to the entire experience. Overall, she delivered a truly welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, and I highly recommend her as a guide.

Very delicious experience - We visited 5 spots and tried 10 different dishes. All very delicious! Our guide, Angela, was very nice and explained carefully every dish. I highly recommend this tour!

Fantastic tour with insider feeling! - The food tour was a really great experience, which I can only recommend and which you should definitely include. Emma showed us the different restaurants and was super warm and accommodating. She always provided us with drinks and told us about life in Shanghai during the walks between restaurants. I loved the food. The selected restaurants were authentic and the food was the best I ate during the whole holiday!

Food coma incoming! - Yesterday night our tour guide Max took us on a walk through the French Concession area. We started with Xiao Long Bao, got Soup, Pork Belly and other delicacies and ended up with a nice dessert and some mulled wine! Not only did Max know a lot about the food but also about Shanghai and the area itself. It was a really nice evening for us and we would definitely do it again!

Great Intro to Shanghainese Cuisne - This tour was a good introduction to Shanghainese cuisine, and I’m glad I did it on my first full day in Shanghai. Our tour guide, Max, was clearly passionate about the city and its food, and I enjoyed touring with him. I would recommend this for first time visitors to Shanghai/China as a way to easily introduce yourself to a new culture and style of eating.
