This is the best place near Xi’an to see pandas and is the earliest center of its kind in China, as well as one of the four major panda breeding centers in the country. It is home to the world’s only brown panda, Qizai, and boasts the largest clusters of crested ibises, golden monkeys, and takins on earth. Mount Huashan - Meet your guide and driver at your hotel and set out for Huashan Mountain. During the 2-hour drive, learn about the mountain’s importance as a significant Daoist site. Upon arrival, marvel at the imposing cliffs and explore the five distinct peaks. Depending on conditions and your preferences, board a cable car to either the North Peak or the West Peak for a scenic ride to the top. Take the cable car to the North Peak, where steep cliffs surround three sides, and the south side leads to the other four peaks. Climb the Ear-Touching Cliff, Heavenward Ladder, and Black Dragon Ridge to reach the Golden Lock Pass and visit the Middle Peak (Jade Maiden Peak) and the East Peak (Facing Sun Peak). Afterward, take the cable car down the mountain and return to your car for the journey back to Xi’an.
