- The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses - Begin the day by meeting the tour guide at the hotel in the morning. The journey to the Terracotta Warriors Museum will take about an hour. Along the way, there will be a stop at the Terracotta Warriors reproduction center, where a local master will demonstrate how to create a small replica of the Terracotta Warriors using the same clay material as the authentic relics in the museum.
From there, proceed to the world-famous Terracotta Warriors Museum, where over 8,000 life-sized Terracotta Warriors and pottery horses can be seen, excavated from three burial pits. These were buried with the first Chinese emperor to protect him in the afterlife and were discovered in 1974. This underground army is now celebrated as the eighth wonder of the world.
- Muslim Quarter - After exploring the Terracotta Warriors Museum, return to Xi’an to visit the renowned Muslim Quarter. Here, embark on a delightful foodie tour, sampling many popular local snacks for lunch, including Liangpi-Cold noodle, Roujiamo-Pork burger, and Bocaimian-Spinach noodle, all of which are delicious and well-known in China.
- Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - Following lunch, explore the ancient city wall, also known as the Fortifications of Xi’an. It is one of the largest ancient military defensive systems globally and the most intact city wall that has survived in China.
The wall stands 12 meters (40 feet) high, with a width of 12-14 meters (40-46 feet) at the top and a thickness of 15-18 meters (50-60 feet) at the base. It extends for 13.7 kilometers (8.5 miles) in length, surrounded by a deep moat. Every 120 meters, a rampart extends from the main wall to defend against enemies climbing up. There are 98 ramparts in total, each with a sentry building where soldiers could protect the entire wall without exposing themselves to the enemy.
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the ancient military defense system and learn about the history of China’s imperial past.
Finally, return to the hotel, concluding the tour.
