Pit 1, the largest, is thought to house 6,000 terracotta warriors (with 2,000 currently on display) along with their war horses. These life-sized warriors face east and are arranged in a battle formation. Each warrior’s distinctiveness is particularly remarkable.
Pit 2, smaller than Pit 1, contains around 1,300 terracotta warriors and is still being excavated. This pit is notable for the presence of generals, mounted soldiers, and kneeling soldiers.
Pit 3, the smallest (showcased by the museum and 3D cinema), contains 72 terracotta warriors and is believed to have functioned as the military headquarters of the era, due to the discovery of numerous high-ranking generals.
