Expect to see 7,000 life-sized terracotta warriors arranged in authentic battle formation, buried underground for over 2,200 years (recommended visiting time: 2.5 hours with plenty of flat walking). The museum visit includes three original pits: Pit 1 as the main force, Pit 2 as the Flexible Troupe, and Pit 3 as the Command Center. There is also an exhibition hall featuring various exhibitions from time to time. This is truly a treasure trove for studying the history of China’s first dynasty, the Qin Dynasty.
- Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - The Xi’an city wall is the only complete city wall remaining in China and is now a landmark of Xi’an. Stretching 13.74 kilometers, the wall is rectangular and forms a perfect defense system. By ascending the wall, you can view the moat, arrow towers, watch towers, and the water drainage system.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta) - The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is situated in the Da Ci’en Temple (Great Mercy Temple) and boasts a history of over 1,300 years. It was once the site where the renowned Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang (Tripitaka) translated Buddhist scriptures, marking the beginning of Buddhism’s spread in China.
- Muslim Quarter - Most Muslims arrived in Xi’an via the Silk Road during the Tang Dynasty (600-900 AD). They studied, worked, intermarried with locals, and settled here. In this area, you’ll find a variety of foreign spices, numerous Muslim restaurants, and some souvenirs.
- Tang Dynasty Show - The Tang Dynasty (618 AD to 900 AD) was the most prosperous dynasty in China, rich in music, calligraphy, and painting. This evening show (7:30 pm to 8:30 pm) is directed based on murals in the Tang Tombs. The vibrant costumes, live music with ancient instruments, and classic dance offer a deeper understanding of ancient Tang culture. - Silk Road - This one-hour Silk Road Musical cultural show takes you through the history of the desert Silk Road with a moving story. As the starting point of the Silk Road, Xi’an still retains many spices and cultures introduced from Arabian countries today. The show features 360-degree spinning seats and a stage with seven different scenes, including 20 camels, wolf dogs, and a two-meter-high waterfall. Using high-tech and artistic techniques, it portrays the wisdom and challenges faced by ancient Chinese people on the Silk Road.
- Huaqing Palace - This palace has served as the imperial Winter Palace for over 3,000 years due to its natural hot springs. Five bathing pools from the Tang Dynasty are still preserved here. Visitors can admire Tang Dynasty architecture, beautiful bonsai, plants, ponds, and landscape compositions. Additionally, bullet holes from the Double-Twelve Incident in 1936, a significant event in China’s modern history, can be seen here.

A wonderful experience - Wendy was extremely knowledgable, and nothing was too much trouble. We had changed the itinerary, and traveled at our own pace which Wendy was more then happy to accomodate. Thank you again Wendy

A perfect day in Xi’an thanks to Wendy - My wife and I took this tour yesterday with Wendy, and it was absolutely perfect. She customized the tour to exactly what we wanted to do, and it has ended up being one of our favorite days in China. We started off by going to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, spending maybe 90 minutes there. It was beautiful! And Wendy’s knowledge of not just the building’s history, but world history, helped give context to everything we saw there. Next we went to the Terra-Cotta Warriors site and museum. Again, it was incredible. And it was so nice to have someone leading us around and explaining to us both the history of the warriors and of the excavation itself. Next we had some lunch at a place where we got to try some of the casual foods Xi’an locals like.
After lunch, she gave us several options of what we wanted to do. As our hotel is right next to the City Wall, we planned to do that on our own after it got dark (they still had New Year decorations up), so she suggested the Muslim Quarter. What a great idea. We really enjoyed walking through the market, and Wendy explained everything we saw, the kind of food it was, etc. We ended up walking by the Great Mosque of Xi’an, and when Wendy realized we were interested in it, she changed gears and suggested we go inside. So glad we did - another stunning example of architecture that just happened to be between 1300 and 600 years old. We finished our tour at Xi’an’s drum tower.
Yesterday was an incredible day thanks to Wendy. I recommend her tour to anyone, and we will absolutely contact her if we get to come back to Xi’an.

Great day in Xi'an - We had a pleasant day touring Xi’an with Becky as our guide. The itinerary included the Terracotta Army, the Big Goose Pagoda, and the Ancient City Wall, which are some of the most important historical sites in the city.
The Terracotta Army was definitely the highlight of the trip. Seeing the thousands of life-size soldiers and learning about the history of Emperor Qin Shi Huang’s tomb was very impressive. Becky helped explain the background and guided us through the different pits.
We also visited the Big Goose Pagoda, an important Buddhist site connected with the monk Xuanzang and the history of the Silk Road. After that, we walked along the Xi’an City Wall, which offered nice views and a chance to experience one of the best preserved ancient city walls in China.
Becky was friendly and helpful throughout the tour and helped us navigate the busy attractions. Overall, it was a good introduction to Xi’an’s major historical landmarks.

Great experience and super tour - The tour was outstanding and Wendy was an excellent tour guide with a great ability to explain the history of the Qin dynasty and it is important to have a guide when visiting the terracotta warriors.

Two Big thumbs Up!!!! - We had a very short transit in Xi’An but still wanted to see the Terra Cotta Warriors and Museum so we booked this private tour with Becky. And WOW were we impressed! Becky is exceedingly knowledgeable of China’s history, past and present. She was very responsive to any questions we had prior to the meetup as well. The van we drove in was also comfortable. Thank you Becky for showing us a great time in Xi’An! We highly recommend this tour!

The Terracotta Army was truly amazing and would be the once-in-lifetime experience for everyone. Great guide, highly recommended! - We had such a great time in Xi’an! Our guide, Wendy, was awesome! It was a tour covering so much history and culture. Wendy is a very nice, positive and well-educated person, her passion and expertise made the tour enjoyable, we gained a wealth of fascinating information and insights of Chinese history and religion. She came at the right time, she knew all the shortcuts in order to avoid the crowds and customized the tour as per our needs. She worked perfectly with the driver, our car was large and spacious. I highly recommend Wendy - she made our day!
