Despite being buried for over 2,200 years, the clay warriors and horses remain vivid with distinct features. Visitors will spend at least two and a half hours at this remarkable site.
Small Goose Pagoda - Next, guests will be transferred to the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, located within Jianfu Temple, about one kilometer south of Xi’an city center. It is one of two significant Buddhist pagodas from the Tang Dynasty, approximately 1300 years old. The Small Wild Goose Pagoda and its larger counterpart, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, are important Buddhist sites dating back to the Tang Dynasty.
The two pagodas symbolized Chang’an (Constant Peace) city. Xi’an (West Peace) was known as Chang’an until the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), when Beijing became China’s capital. Chang’an served as the capital for ten dynasties.
Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang) - After lunch, guests will be transferred to the city wall. They can walk or cycle around the wall, with bike rental fees paid locally. Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta) - Instead of entering the temple to visit the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, there will be a photo stop for half an hour. Based on suggestions from previous guests, this is sufficient to see the pagoda and the statue of Monk Xuanzang at the south square outside the temple. As a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists, the pagoda, built during the Tang Dynasty, was once the site for Xuanzang to translate Buddhist sutras.
Today, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda Area is a popular spot for tourists and locals in Xi’an. It is a wonderful place to enjoy charming night scenes and relax. Around the pagoda, the south square leads to the Great Tang All Day Mall, where visitors can appreciate unique Tang Dynasty-style sculptures and enjoy classical music performances in public.
