A brief, steep hike leads to the island’s summit, offering stunning panoramic views of the Arethusa pool, Lake Wanaka, and its surrounding peaks. The water taxi departs from Wanaka Marina twice daily, traveling 15km up Lake Wanaka, passing Mou Tapu Island and the steep cliffs of Fisherman’s Cove to reach Mou Waho Island. The friendly and knowledgeable skipper will provide fascinating information about the alps’ geology and the glaciers that formed the lake as you cruise its sparkling waters. Enjoy 1.5 hours on the island to explore at your leisure.

Note: The Christmas Day Mou Waho Island Tour includes a festive picnic and will be extended so everyone can celebrate together.

• A 20/30 minute walk up hill is involved. (Optional)
• Due to uneven surfaces and the steepness in places, the walk is not recommended for those with walking disabilities but they are more than welcome to join us on the boat trip and skip the walk and stay at the bottom of the island.
