Winston Salem pride! - Wow I never knew Winston-Salem was so interesting. Despite growing up in WS I knew very little of its history beyond the obvious tobacco stuff, and this tour really gave me a new perspective on my hometown. What a great tour. Annee was an awesome guide and really well informed about the city.

Great tour of an amazing place - I had not heard of Winston Salem before but Annie did a great job of showing me the city and what made it so interesting. I had no idea that there were factories like this so far South. The downtown was very charming and alive. Annie was very educated and knew the city well.

Not great. - booked the one hour “historical walking tour” through Triangle tours in Winston-Salem. Having bennett tour guide, I know what markers I’m looking for for an enjoyable and informative walk about the history of a city. Our guide did not seem to be going off of a script or have anything in depth to share with the popular tourists/common knowledge places that she showed us. Even pointing out the obvious, the renovation of the R.J. Reynolds tobacco plant on Patterson Street and two a community space, was described as “infrastructure innovation”. While you’re on a tour, I was able to look at Perplexity & ChatGPT a couple times to get more interesting and factual points about the spots we were stopping at then the Guide knew. It appeared that she had a script, but it did not seem like she had it memorized or was using it One questions were asked she referred her personal experience versus historical context. Halfway through she kept asking us where we wanted to go and what did we want to know, but she was the guide and we were trying to give her the benefit of the doubt to show us what the tour should’ve encompassed. It ended 10 minutes early. There were only three of us on the tour. For triangle: having the guides have a basic list of the architecture we’re passing the dates of transformation in the city and what the current events are usingeasily accessible data on the Winston-Salem Downtown development website or even the Instagram on Winston-Salem’s activities and history would be beneficial for training for this guide. I will not be recommending this tour for visit visitors from our hometown to where we live now in winston.
