Worthwhile - I was a crater hater at first, the entrance fee seems (and is) steep. Tyler our tour guide made it worthwhile, he was knowledgeable and excited offering lots of opportunities to ask questions and he was genuinely excited to provide an answer. I liked that everything is included once you get there, it’s free parking, free games/little virtual ride, free view things to see the crater, free tour. It’s not a bunch of cashgrab add ons. Also your ticket is good for 2 weeks from purchase so you could always come back again especially if weather doesn’t work out. Overall if you’re nearby I’d say this is worth checking out

Informative Displays and Tours - Our visit to the Meteor Crater was very nice. The visitor center has many informative displays and exhibits as well as a short movie for background information. It was also helpful to go on a short guided tour on the rim with a knowledgeable guide to answer any questions.

Overall interesting but… - Since Trip Advisor is providing prompts, I’ll address those: Overall, we found the crater interesting but our kids were bored except for the motion theater offering which was fun. To them, it was just a hole in the ground. It was pricier than we anticipated at $29/adult, $25/child so if that is a concern, be sure to check first. The tour was interesting and entertaining BUT our tour guide, Russel, was hard to understand. I was trying to figure out why and saw that his tongue was pierced with a blue stud. It was frustrating trying to figure out what he was saying and it detracted from the presentation. When the tour was over and we walked back into the building, we heard the tour guide for the next group prepping her group and my husband said, “we should have waited for the next tour so I could understand more of what was being said.” I had not mentioned anything to him during the tour so it wasn’t just me. We did contemplate taking the next tour because we missed a lot of what was being said but the kids were getting antsy. Russel seemed very knowledgeable, funny and pleasant but he either needs to slow his speech and work to enunciate more clearly or remove the stud when he is working. The facility was clean, the displays were well-done and we would recommend—we’d just choose a different tour guide.
