I really enjoyed our winery tour. It was super fun, and I definitely recommend it!
We appreciated the time that John spent with us, kind to answer every question! He is so knowledgeable and friendly and we enjoyed our time at the winery. And he presented some very wonderful wines for our enjoyment!!
Learned a lot about what it takes to raise grapes and make a bottle of wine, along with what a really good bottle of wine is and how to really taste wine - Thanks for the detail!
The tour was amazing! The owner himself shows you around his winery and explains how wine making works, as well as the history of the area. Everyone in our group was impressed by his knowledge. I also especially loved the tour because of how dog-friendly it was. The wines were delicious as well! I highly recommend this tour!
Such a great day, learning about wine and then taking a tour. Would recommend to friends and family. We will be back.
Our trip to Helvetia Vineyard was simply lovely- we took a car share there from downtown Portland ($30 and about 40 minutes) and loved our tour and tasting- John was a fantastic guide and the wine and scenery were delightful. Afterwards, we bought a bottle of wine and more salmon and enjoyed the afternoon on the picnic tables near the house. I couldn't recommend it more highly.
Personal, informative tour and comprehensive tasting. Well worth the price.
I learned so much from our visit! It was a great time and the wine is fabulous, too!

We really enjoyed the relaxed country setting for this winery. The wine selection was good too! We learned a lot about the process of making wine and this smaller organization has great potential. Thanks from all of us.
John was outstanding in his knowledge and understanding of the winery and history. He was very patient with my mom (she has Alzheimer’s) and her continuous questions over and over. I can’t wait to return.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Helvetia Winery tour! It was very informative and we loved the wines!
John was so amazing as a guide of the winery and had so much knowledge not only of the wine industry and the processes involved in making wine, but was also so informed about the history of his land and the wine country around him. An awesome afternoon! And the salmon was great!
We absolutely loved our experience at Helvetia Winery. We learned so much about the winery as well as wine itself! The wines were marvelous and we got to try so many! Plus, the salmon was a delicious pairing. Overall, we had a great experience and plan on bringing more friends to experience Helvetia Winery!
We really enjoyed the tour, the employees and the wine! John is a wonderful guide and happily answered our many questions. Highly recommend!
John is really helpful for someone so inexperenced with wine like us. We ended up buying two bottles because we were so satisfied with the tour and the wine they make here.
The owner is very knowledgeable about wine, and the property is very beautiful. Everyone was super friendly. We had a great, relaxing experience and got to try many different varieties of wine.
The wine is great, the land it beautiful, but the room that we had the tasting in was a bit dingy. If you were to clean it up a bit, it would be a great improvement!
John was wonderful with our tour and tasting.
The tour was very informative and a great way for my husband and I to start exploring our joint love of wine. We left with 2 bottles and plan to return when the Rosés are released.
The tour was excellent, learned a lot about the soil, the micro-climate, and the fermentation method used by Helvetia. John is a great tour host. Would have liked the Salmon servings and crackers to be more substantial. For us, it was not cost effective to visit Helvetia using the Groupon discount. Getting an Oregon Wine Passport is more cost effective for us.
This was such a great experience. So much more that merely a winery tour and tasting. John was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wine. It was great to learn about the region and history, as well as the science involved in the wine making process. Outstanding!
The tour was really interesting; the wine very tasty. Looking forward to going back in Spring to taste new releases.
We bought the Tour package with the goal of wanting to learn a little more about wine and we had an absolute blast. John our tour guide is the best. One of the best educations I have ever had on any subject. We spent almost 2 hours with him. It wasn't about drinking wine but moreso learning about the different wines and how they grow, the history of the Tualatin valley, it was amazing. Best part was smelling wines in the barrels and tasting the chardonnay. Literally, mouthwatering the whole time. We had an absolute blast. Thanks so much for the experience.
Very educational experience with friendly owners!
At first we thought it was somewhat of a rustic atmosphere, but in the end they won us over with a wonderful passion for grapes that was infectious.
We learned so very much from John, our tour guide. I will enjoy wine in a whole new way pretty much for the rest of my life. Thank you, John.
Had a great time. John, the winemaker and owner started us with an explanation on "terroir", then a tour of the winery which included a couple barrel tastings. Back at the tasting room we sampled whites and points along side some smoked salmon. It was informative and entertaining at the same time. Highly recommend.
John really shared his passion for win making. Love going for tasting fro wine barrels.
A very educational tour about the area and wine making. John spend time giving us a wonderful introduction and we got to see the facilities where they make and keep the wine barrels before the wine tasting. We had a great time and would highly recommend it.
It was very interesting to learn about wine and the process.
Thanks to John and everyone at Helvetia for a great tour and tasting! We'll be back!
We had a wonderful time at Helvetia Winery. The tour was intimate and John was delightful. He answered many of our questions and was very informative about the wine making process.
I really enjoyed the tour and tasting! Than you for giving a great opportunity to know the wine knowledge!
The tour was very informative.
This was the most informative and educational experience at a winery. John was so knowledgeable about everything, including the soils and slopes. I feel like I got to be a part of history on this tour and learned a lot about the area, not just wines. This tour was great for everyone, not just wine lovers. My entire family couldn’t stop talking about it all weekend and they were visiting from wine country in California. Will definitely be back! The wine and salmon were amazing too.
Very friendly. Vineyard was very rustic and welcoming. Guide/owner was knowledgeable and articulate. Wine was good. Process a bit disorganized. During the tasting, salmon was offered. It was about a tablespoon of two types of salmon, barely enough to qualify as a tasting, certainly not the small appetizer we expected. Crackers or bread should have been offered for the tasting as pallet cleansers, they were not. Saltine crackers are offered in the regular tasting room, but were not offered with this tasting. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but likely would not recommend based on our prior experiences at more than 30 winery onsite tastings, tours, and special events in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
