The tour was very informative and a great way for my husband and I to start exploring our joint love of wine. We left with 2 bottles and plan to return when the Rosés are released.
The tour was excellent, learned a lot about the soil, the micro-climate, and the fermentation method used by Helvetia. John is a great tour host. Would have liked the Salmon servings and crackers to be more substantial. For us, it was not cost effective to visit Helvetia using the Groupon discount. Getting an Oregon Wine Passport is more cost effective for us.
This was such a great experience. So much more that merely a winery tour and tasting. John was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about wine. It was great to learn about the region and history, as well as the science involved in the wine making process. Outstanding!
The tour was really interesting; the wine very tasty. Looking forward to going back in Spring to taste new releases.
We bought the Tour package with the goal of wanting to learn a little more about wine and we had an absolute blast. John our tour guide is the best. One of the best educations I have ever had on any subject. We spent almost 2 hours with him. It wasn't about drinking wine but moreso learning about the different wines and how they grow, the history of the Tualatin valley, it was amazing. Best part was smelling wines in the barrels and tasting the chardonnay. Literally, mouthwatering the whole time. We had an absolute blast. Thanks so much for the experience.
Very educational experience with friendly owners!
At first we thought it was somewhat of a rustic atmosphere, but in the end they won us over with a wonderful passion for grapes that was infectious.
We learned so very much from John, our tour guide. I will enjoy wine in a whole new way pretty much for the rest of my life. Thank you, John.
Had a great time. John, the winemaker and owner started us with an explanation on "terroir", then a tour of the winery which included a couple barrel tastings. Back at the tasting room we sampled whites and points along side some smoked salmon. It was informative and entertaining at the same time. Highly recommend.
John really shared his passion for win making. Love going for tasting fro wine barrels.
A very educational tour about the area and wine making. John spend time giving us a wonderful introduction and we got to see the facilities where they make and keep the wine barrels before the wine tasting. We had a great time and would highly recommend it.
It was very interesting to learn about wine and the process.
Thanks to John and everyone at Helvetia for a great tour and tasting! We'll be back!
We had a wonderful time at Helvetia Winery. The tour was intimate and John was delightful. He answered many of our questions and was very informative about the wine making process.
I really enjoyed the tour and tasting! Than you for giving a great opportunity to know the wine knowledge!
The tour was very informative.
This was the most informative and educational experience at a winery. John was so knowledgeable about everything, including the soils and slopes. I feel like I got to be a part of history on this tour and learned a lot about the area, not just wines. This tour was great for everyone, not just wine lovers. My entire family couldn’t stop talking about it all weekend and they were visiting from wine country in California. Will definitely be back! The wine and salmon were amazing too.
Very friendly. Vineyard was very rustic and welcoming. Guide/owner was knowledgeable and articulate. Wine was good. Process a bit disorganized. During the tasting, salmon was offered. It was about a tablespoon of two types of salmon, barely enough to qualify as a tasting, certainly not the small appetizer we expected. Crackers or bread should have been offered for the tasting as pallet cleansers, they were not. Saltine crackers are offered in the regular tasting room, but were not offered with this tasting. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, but likely would not recommend based on our prior experiences at more than 30 winery onsite tastings, tours, and special events in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.
Such a great tour. Learned a lot about what makes their wines unique and that red wine is delicious with smoked salmon!
The staff is wonderful at the winery! It's a small tasting room with a family vibe. They are very warm & welcoming. We had a tour with the owner who is a terrific teacher & fun guide. You can tell this winery is passionate about growing good fruit & making the best wine.
John and the staff were very welcoming to our group! We learned so much about how to properly taste wine. Overall this was a great experience.
The 12 pm your was all booked so we did the 3 pm tour and we were the only ones in the group! A very informational and fun wine tour! Absolutely loved it and would recommend to anybody
My wife and I had a great time on this Winery Tour and tasting. It was great to learn about the specific area and how that affects how the wine tastes. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating! The tasting with the smoked salmon was excellent!
The tour was very informative and educational. The wines were excellent. John was very engaging and made the whole experience fantastic.
We learned so much on this tour! Loved hearing about the tiny things that make the Helevia winery special and really loved spending a relaxing afternoon in the beautiful sun. A wonderful experience.
A beautiful setting! John's knowledge is amazing, learned more about wine than from any other winery. Best Chardonnay EVER.
Forget other wineries in the area, this is the one you really need to visit. John is extremely knowledgeable and hospitable host. His tour helped us learn about elements of local history and vineyard science. The most generous wine tasting experience trying a bunch of different kinds yet the best price ever. Our only regret is that the Helvetia winery is not down the road from our house so we could visit weekly. Thank you so so much John!
Spending the day at Helvetia was sincerely delightful. The property is simple, quaint and lovely, John was so knowledgable and overall just the perfect tour guide, and the wine was outstanding. We can't wait to come back!!
Such a great spot just outside of the city! Nice people, beautiful scenery, and good wine at the right price.
very impressed with staff, owner and wine maker and even got to meet Suzie of the smoked salmon!! would do it all over again and tell my friends---perfect day and weather ---chardonnay wine was AWESOME Just wish I knew ahead of time that buying the wine container full of wine instead of a bottle of wine was extra $6 charge
I really enjoyed the intimacy and welcoming, educational nature of this experience, not to mention the great wines we tasted. This is how Napa Valley used to be 30 or more years ago, before it got so commercial. You can tell the people that are associated with Helvetia WInery really care about their business and the industry in general. I hope they always maintain these qualities, and I look forward to being a wine club member this year.
The tour was very informative, fun and relaxing. We will be recommending to our friends.
This was the tour that almost didn't happen for us. Due to a variety of scheduling conflicts (on our part) we had to reschedule our tour three times. Each time the staff at the winery were incredibly gracious and kind about it and when we finally got to the tour it exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone, and would be excited to do it again or even just visit the tasting room for a relaxing afternoon.
