This self-guided kayak rental offers independence and extended time on the water to fully appreciate the splendor of Black Canyon and Emerald Cave. Guests frequently inquire if 4 hours is sufficient to reach the cave area, and the answer is YES.

Important Information:

• This is NOT a guided tour. There is no guide on the water.
• Equipment is pre-set up and ready for use. Guests simply arrive, get fitted for life vests, receive a safety briefing, and launch.
• This is a scheduled rental. Please arrive 15–30 minutes early for your scheduled time.
• Mandatory Online Waivers: All participants must complete the online waiver at least 24 hours in advance (or immediately after booking). This is a National Park Service requirement. Failure to complete waivers on time will result in forfeiting your rental with no refund.

Rental rates are per person, not per kayak. Rentals must be used by the same guest for the entire duration. No sharing, swapping, or transferring between guests is allowed. A tandem kayak is for two paying guests sharing one kayak. Each guest must have a paid reservation.

This option is perfect for those who desire freedom and a customized adventure without the need for a guide or group. Early morning departures (8:00 AM – 10:00 AM) are highly recommended for a more peaceful experience with fewer people. Mornings are the best time to go, while Fridays and Saturdays are generally busier.

• Important: Kayaks must be returned by the end of your scheduled rental time. Late returns are subject to a $100 per person late fee.
