Awesome - Julia was our tour guide and she was AMAZING!! She taught us all about the history of the river, took pictures for us all along the way, brought water and great snacks, and gave us ideas on where to go explore next!! Hands down it was an awesome experience and I would definitely do it again!

Top Dogz! - Michelle and Rebecca made this adventure so enjoyable and safe for everyone. They provided a lot of interesting facts about the history of the river, settlers and what life was like in the area before the dam. I highly recommend them. FYI, they’re secretly professional photographers 😉

Read this review!!! - Michelle was amazing, you could tell from the moment you met her that she was passionate about being a guide and treated everyone from beginners to experienced the same way! She is great about sharing her knowledge and history of the area, with personal insights and humor . The emerald cave is a must do experience!! Great time for everyone and like the other reviews you have read, Michelle is the real deal and the experience is a lasting memory.

Our teen boys liked it! - We booked the Grand Canyon (Western Rim) kayak tour to see the Emerald Caves on the Colorado River after a friend recommended it to us. Our tour operating company was River Dogz. Preston, our guide picked us up near our hotel & we rode in a large van to the departure site. We have 3 older teenage sons and were hoping this was an activity they would enjoy. None of us had ever kayaked before. Each of our sons had their own kayak & they quickly picked up what to do. My husband and I shared a kayak. The scenery was beautiful along the way down the river and we stopped briefly and had a snack break, a short dip in the water (it was cold to us), and a short hike with our guide Preston to a higher viewpoint down the river. Our group had about 10 people total & our family was the youngest (ages 15-48). TIP: On the way down the river, just float & save your arms for the paddle back UP river to the starting point. Our guide Preston did a good job keeping our group together & he took pictures for our family & others. We actually used a picture from this tour for our family Christmas card 2025. The Emerald Caves are not a true “cave” so if you are claustrophobic like me, you will be fine. It is a grotto & when the sun hits the water, it turns a beautiful green color. I would recommend bringing a Dry Bag for snacks, phone, sunscreen, etc. We did get water in our kayaks. Like I mentioned, we were all beginners, so water was dripping off the paddles inside the kayak. There is a store at the launch site that sells dry bags, snacks, drinks, sunscreen, etc. if you forget something. I would say you need to be in moderate shape to handle the paddling back upstream. We were tired after. It was a great experience & one of our favorite tours on this family trip.

Perfect nature excursion for a break from the city - Our kayaking trip with our guide Michelle was amazing!!! Such a great half day away from the city to see beautiful scenery. Michelle is so knowledgeable and taught us so much about history of different areas, even during the shuttle drive from Vegas to the marina. We learned so much about the ecosystem of the river and canyons too. She also took amazing photos and shared them with the group after the tour. Such an amazing experience for beginners or experienced kayakers. My husband and I both loved this experience during our honeymoon and we had zero complaints.

Honest review - It was beautiful, but definitely pack a lot of water and food and reapply sunscreen every 45 min. Also the time you book for is not the time they actually leave so we booked for 11:50am, then the texted us the morning of saying be there at 11:20 we leave at 11:35. Of course we were not anticipating that and we had planned for 11:50 so even with rushing to get there we made it at 11:27am waiting in line to get to the park, drove down the long road, got to the kayaking trailer and it was 11:42am the instructor had left without us. We did get to go with another group but because we were not on the same shuttle as them, we did not get all of the proper information about the excursion, luckily her and I have both kayaked before so it ended up being okay. Also you wait in line for a tiny cave that you only get to go in for 5 min with a big group so you don’t get to enjoy it. The last 45 min or mile stretch back from the cove against the wind is intense and difficult so be prepared for that. It is beautiful and I would go again for like 50 bucks but I would never pay over $100 a person again to do that. My honest advice would be to rent your own or bring your own and go do it, the ppl not on the tours but just out on their own looked to be having way more fun.
