A Warm Welcome to Curacao

As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can be enjoyed by both kids and adults alike. So, when I heard about the Curacao Turtle Adventure, I knew it was a must-try for our family. Our adventure began as we disembarked from our cruise ship in Willemstad. I was a bit anxious about finding our meeting point, but to my relief, Eddie, our guide, was waiting with a “Curacao Dreams” sign. It was a breeze to get to our transportation, and soon we were on our way to pick up Patrick, our snorkeling guide, and the rest of our small group.

The drive was comfortable, and the van was spacious enough for everyone to have a cozy seat. Eddie and Patrick kept us entertained with fascinating stories about Curacao’s history and culture. It was a great way to start our day, and the kids were already buzzing with excitement.

Flamingos and Turtles Galore

Our first stop was a delightful surprise – a visit to see the wild flamingos. The kids were thrilled to see these elegant birds in their natural habitat, and Patrick shared some interesting facts about them. We managed to snap some fantastic photos, and it was a perfect start to our adventure.

Next, we headed to Playa Piskado, where the real magic happened. Snorkeling with sea turtles was an experience like no other. Patrick, who clearly loves his job, guided us through the shallow waters where the turtles naturally gather. The kids were mesmerized by the gentle giants swimming around us, and I was equally captivated. Patrick took incredible underwater photos of us with the turtles, and the best part? They were included in the tour at no extra cost! It was a refreshing change from other excursions where photos often come with a hefty price tag.

Beach Bliss at Grote Knip

After our turtle encounter, we made our way to Grote Knip, one of the most beautiful beaches in Curacao. The turquoise waters and soft sands were a sight to behold. We had about an hour to relax, swim, and soak up the sun. The kids built sandcastles while my husband and I enjoyed a cold drink from a nearby vendor. It was a perfect family moment, and we captured it all in photos.

Before heading back, we made a quick stop to see more flamingos, a lovely bonus to our day. Eddie and Patrick ensured we were back at the dock in plenty of time for our cruise departure, and I appreciated their attention to detail and time management.
