Irish Time Capsule - Our tour of the house was one of the highlights of our two weeks in Ireland. John, our tour guide, made the history of this well-preserved home come alive as he related stories of each of the persons whose portraits line the large hall. So much to see and learn about the area! We loved touring the top and lower floors on our own, then the gorgeous grounds, too.

Do not miss! Beautiful house and grounds. Top notch tour guide. - We visited Westport House on a 10 day trip to Ireland and attended one of their daily scheduled tours. We were blown away by the beauty of the house and grounds immediately. Do not miss! I was surprised to learn that I had actually heard of many of the houses former occupants, such as Grace I’Malley! Our tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the history, families who have owned the house, and current events taking place at the house. He really made sure every question was thoroughly answered, and accurately with a a little humor added here and there as well! I really liked the fact that we were all left on our own after the tour to explore the house at our leisure. Oh yes, and there are dungeons! There were no large crowds, we purchased our tickets there instantly and it was well worth the money.
