Great personal service by owner/ staff - Delightful experience, certainly worth repeating ,with this particular bike tour service, which was not only professional, reasonably priced, and flexible, the genuinely personal touch and helpful advice by the owner / staff, you cannot put a price on.

Ebikes made us feel young again! - I was with a few older women (I'm almost 70) in good health but not athletic. Most of us had not ridden a bike in many years. The added assistance while peddling an ebike made going distances and up gradual grades a literal breeze. If you've ever enjoyed riding bikes in the past but wondered if you still can, this is a perfect opportunity to rediscover that joy!
Paul at Paddy and Nelly's Bike Hire was very careful to see that we were comfortably fitted with nice quality ebikes, helmets, instructions, directions and helpful tips. He had each of us take a short test ride to confirm that we felt safe and confident before we headed out on our adventure. He has a few smaller ebikes that may feel more manageable to some riders but offer the same easy-to-use features and speed as larger ebikes.
As for the Great Western Greenway, I cannot say enough about how beautiful this ride is, especially the section from Newport to Mulranny. There is no motorized traffic to contend with on the Greenway, only peaceful miles of some of Ireland's most magnificent scenery to see at your own pace. This was an experience I will always treasure!

From Westport yo Achill - Paddy was very helpful, and made sure we had the right bikes. We went from westport to achill and returned by bus. The scenery was spectacular for October, with just a bit of good old west of Ireland misht.

Wonderful tour on comfortable bikes and beautiful scenery! - Wonderful tour around and about from Westport! We enjoyed two of the recommended routes - #4 and #5, with #5 being the most comfortable with flat roads and straightforward directions. Scenery is gorgeous and the e-bikes allowed us to explore comfortably. Paul was helpful and insightful giving advice on where to ride. When asked, he gave us suggestions about Westport which we took advantage of! Amazing!

The most amazing scenery—bucolic and romantic the entire way! - Paddy & Nelly’s Bike Hire was conveniently located. The owner, Paul, was very helpful and accommodating.
I rode an e-bike from Westport to Mulranny.
About halfway, I stopped for the most delicious lunch and an AMAZING CUP OF COFFEE with oat milk in the quaint town of Newport. The veggie/chicken wrap was so well done—perfect! The restaurant was called Kelly’s. Both the outside and inside seating were very charming.
Despite the rainy and cold weather (I had my raincoat and warm gloves), the scenery in this greenway was beyond my expectations and imagination. Truly, it was one of the most bucolic, romantic and pastoral landscapes I’ve ever traveled through.
Along the bike ride were rolling, green hills speckled with sheep and occasionally a few cows. Simple farm cottages and old historic remnants of tiny stone cottages and barns required me getting off of my bike often for wonderful photo ops. All of the old stone pasture walls, along with the occasional babbling brook brought my mind back to simpler times.
I was feeling very grateful to all of the farmers who work hard to keep this beautiful land clean and scenic. They provide not only enjoyable scenery for cyclists but also through their efforts, a very large amount of land remains green and natural. Plus, the animals have a very happy home.
Throughout the trip, I saw heather, wild geranium, ferns, and rhododendron that lined the trail. Mosses covered old stones.
The other cyclists and a farmer I encountered on the trail were friendly and helpful.
As I neared Mulranny, I was delighted by the most amazing views of the hillside down towards the water.
I highly recommend Paddy & Nellies Bike Hire.

Wonderful experience, would do it again! - This was such a great experience! My husband, friend and I rented ebikes and went from Westport to Achill. The owner was friendly, made sure we had bikes that were comfortable, and explained the route in detail. We had such a good time and the path was beautiful. Not to mention it was fun to stop for lunch and grab a Guinness along the way.
My husband’s bike chain did break part way through our trip, but the owner was incredibly helpful and he helped get us a new bike in no time.
I would do this again and recommended it to anyone in town. Great way to see all the beauty of these towns!

Best place to rent bikes in Westport - Second time renting bikes here and will always come back to Paddy & Nelly - so incredibly helpful, easy process, and the scenery on the greenway is always stunning. Absolutely would recommend renting an e-bike here!!!

A Relaxed and Enjoyable Day Out - A friend and I recently rented two ebikes from Paddy & Nelly Bike Hire and cycled from Westport to Achill Sound, approx 40km. I rang Paul for advice prior to booking and probably underestimated our ability so Paul advised me to cycle to Mulranny and to get the bus back, which is what we booked. We met Paul on the Friday morning to pick up our bikes. We'd never ridden an ebike before so Paul very patiently explained the operation of the bikes and we set off. On reaching Mulranny we had enough in the tank to carry on to Achill so we text Paul to let him know and that was no problem. As agreed we parked the bikes in Achill and got the bus back to Westport. We were lucky in that we had good weather and the whole experience was extremely relaxed and enjoyable. A small portion of the route is on or near the public road road but most of the route is through farm land and along the coast with fantastic scenery and views. Most of the route is level and it is easy for anyone with a moderate level of fitness, plus the ebike helps alot. All in all, a really lovely day out. Paddy and Nelly Bike Hire were very patient and flexible and I would definitely use Paddy & Nelly again and am happy to recommend them.

Great day out!!! - Fantastic day out with a smooth booking procedure, e bikes matched to our need ( the wife got an automatic so no gears to worry about, route out to Achill explained and a perfect day for it, bikes left at the hotel a bite to eat then the bus back to Westport, previous bad review is a complete mystery to me ??? If you’re thinking about this just do it.

Cycling Westport Greenway - My sister and I spent a very enjoyable day cycling the greenway Westport to Achill on Tuesday 19th August while on a short break in Westport
We came across paddy&nelly bike hire while out walking and we had a chat with Paul about the options to cycle the greenway
We returned the next morning and had a short trial run on an e-bike as neither of us had previously used an e-bike
We then set off on our trip and we both quickly got confident and enjoyed the journey taking in the lovely views on route, in the main away from the busy roadside traffic
We had a break mid way and had our lunch overlooking the views out over the sea
We arrived at Achill with time to lock up the bikes and leave at the location as instructed by Paul and then relax with a cold beer before heading to the bus stop
Unfortunately due to unexpected circumstances the bus arrived about 30 minutes late and then broke down within about 20 minutes of the trip back to Westport, while waiting for a replacement bus to arrive we were lucky to be offered a lift back to Westport by a family who had been parked up close to our broken down bus
We would both highly recommend cycling the greenway for anyone taking a vacation in Westport and we would certainly recommend using paddy&nelly bike hire
