Best day of vacation - The Great Western Greenway is the best way to view Irelands countryside. Paul hooked us up with a combination of e-bikes and hybrid bike. He gave us a thorough explanation of the entire trail. His location is ideal for quick access to the trail. He was able to help us with the shuttle back to Westport. This day of biking was may favorite memory from our Ireland vacation.

Poor bike hire experience - Hired bikes as good reviews on trip advisor. On booking not asked for height of cyclists, so they could have relevant bikes ready. At their depot poor selection of bikes , we are tall and all the bike were medium or small frames. During cycle three out of four bikes developed issues with the gears, and one with the saddle, the bikes were old with rust apparent and locking nuts stiff and rusted. One bike had old twist shift gears that didn't work easily. The Greenway itself was fantastic, despite reviews saying not suitable for road bike, if running 28 or above on your road bike it will easily be suitable. In summary as an experience cyclist, worth doing the round trip, could eateries in Mulranny. Use your own bikes if on 28 tyres or above. Don't use Paddy and Nelly's , other rental options available. When We feed back, basically told you are advised to trial bike up and down the street, not real sufficient when issues are likely to developed further on in cycle rather than in a Few hundred yards test.

Paddy’s will rip you off! - I rarely give low ratings but I truly believe the owner at Paddy’s, Paul, intentionally ripped us off for £101! Plus, once we saw other bike rental equipment, it was clear Paddy’s has much older bikes, and with Paul’s attitude, I question their upkeep! We went to Paddy’s on a Wednesday night to look into renting on Friday. As expected, it was raining off and on that week. Paul gave us lots of info and recommended making a reservation to get a 10% discount. He also recommended an e-bike since we are both seniors. That night, I made our reservation. Come Friday, it was raining Per the site, you can email Paddy’s directly, so I emailed early cancelling the bikes and requesting a refund. We stopped by later in the day to ask about the refund. Paul explained there was NO REFUND if you reserved ONLINE! He said lots of people ride in the rain! I said we could have not made a reservation and not paid but he recommended it. He said that it said no refunds on the website, “you got the discount” and “those are the rules” and walked away. I said, “You make the rules” and left disgusted. I checked the website and did NOT see anywhere about no refund. I looked at other rental sites, and they did say no refund for reservations ON THEIR FIRST PAGE IN BIG PRINT. Hence, please don’t waste your money at Paddy’s!
