- St. James’s Park - The guide will greet participants outside St James’s Park Tube Station in the morning, ready to introduce them to two of Greater London’s most renowned boroughs: the City of Westminster and the City of London. Nestled along the River Thames, these boroughs are rich in history. With captivating tales, a highly knowledgeable guide will acquaint the children with the significant buildings and iconic symbols of this area of London. This tour is crafted to be both educational and entertaining!
- Westminster Abbey - The first destination is Westminster Abbey, the stunning Gothic abbey church adjacent to the Palace of Westminster and the most significant religious building in the United Kingdom. This church is the traditional site for the coronation and burial of Britain’s monarchs.
- Big Ben - Following this, the guide will lead participants to Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster. The Palace of Westminster houses the two chambers of the British Parliament, the House of Commons and the House of Lords. Alongside Elizabeth Tower, commonly referred to as Big Ben after its main bell, it forms an iconic landmark of London and the United Kingdom, and is one of the country’s most visited tourist attractions.
- Downing Street - The tour will then proceed to Downing Street, where the official residence and offices of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are located at number 10, as well as the Chancellor of the Exchequer at number 11.
- Buckingham Palace - A short stroll from Downing Street leads to Buckingham Palace, the official London residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The presence of the Queen can be determined by the flag flying above the Palace. The Union Flag indicates her absence, while the Royal Standard signifies her presence. On Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the spectacular Changing of the Guard ceremony can be witnessed, weather permitting and if scheduled on the tour day (the ceremony may be canceled due to special events or holidays).
-
St. Paul’s Cathedral - Finally, participants will take the world’s oldest metro system, the London Underground, from the City of Westminster to the City of London, home to the renowned St. Paul’s Cathedral, which can be admired from the outside. London was originally a Roman settlement dating back to the 1st Century AD. The City is the site of the oldest part of Greater London and was initially named Londinium.
