A Warm Welcome to Roatán

The day began with a warm Caribbean breeze as I stepped off the cruise ship and into the vibrant embrace of Roatán. Alfredo, our guide for the day, greeted us with a smile that seemed to reflect the island’s sunny disposition. As a former professional surfer, I’ve traveled to many coastal paradises, but there’s something uniquely inviting about Roatán. Beach Bliss at West Bay

After our wildlife encounter, we headed to West Bay, where the Henry Morgan Beach Resort awaited us. The resort’s beachfront was a picture-perfect scene of white sand and crystal-clear waters. As someone who spends a lot of time in the ocean, I was eager to dive into the inviting waves. But first, we settled into our sunbeds, strategically placed to offer the best view of the beach. The resort’s amenities were top-notch, and the waiter service to our sunbeds was a luxurious touch. With a bucket of cold beers in hand, I felt the stress of everyday life melt away.

The snorkeling session was the next adventure on our itinerary. Alfredo ensured we were ready and guided us to the boat that would take us to the snorkeling spot. The reef was teeming with life, and as I slipped into the water, I was greeted by a kaleidoscope of colorful fish. The highlight was spotting a majestic manta ray gliding gracefully through the water. The 45-minute session flew by, and I emerged from the ocean feeling invigorated and grateful for the experience.

A Perfect Ending

After snorkeling, we returned to the beach for a leisurely swim. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the water. It was the perfect time to relax and reflect on the day’s adventures. Alfredo, ever attentive, suggested a visit to a local bar with stunning views of Roatán. The bar, perched high above the island, offered breathtaking vistas and a chance to unwind with a refreshing drink in hand.

The day ended with a smooth ride back to the port, with plenty of time to spare before our ship’s departure.
