- Wells Market Place - This bustling area is the heart of the city. If visiting on a Wednesday or Saturday, you can explore the local market held weekly. Fans of the film “Hot Fuzz” might recognize the Market Place, as it was featured prominently in the movie.
- Wells Cathedral - Explore the stunning 13th Century Wells Cathedral, renowned for its beautiful interior and unique features, including the world’s second oldest working clock.
- Vicar’s Close - Discover the charming Vicar’s Close, the oldest residential street in Europe.
- Cheddar - After enjoying lunch at a traditional English pub, you will be driven to Cheddar, the birthplace of the renowned Cheddar cheese.
- The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company - Visit the sole remaining cheese factory in the Cheddar area that produces traditional Cheddar cheese. Gain insight into the cheese-making process, and if fortunate, witness the cheese being made.
At the end of the visit, sample various cheese varieties, including one matured in local caves. There will be an opportunity to purchase cheese as souvenirs or to savor during the rest of your holiday.
- Cheddar Gorge - Experience the breathtaking Cheddar Gorge, the largest gorge in England. While driving through, you can stop and hike to the guide’s favorite viewpoint, offering stunning panoramic views of the gorge and surrounding area. This walk includes a steep 15-minute climb on an uneven path, which can be muddy after rain, so participation is optional and may not be suitable for everyone.
After the tour, you will be driven back to Bath.

10/10 Recommend! - We had such a great experience on this tour! We loved seeing the beautiful countryside, Daniel is so knowledgable about the cathedral in Wells (he is so knowledgable about every part of the tour for that matter!) - we gleaned so much more than we ever would have going on our own. We went on a Wednesday and were able to go to the market in Wells as well. Our lunch was lovely, we enjoyed our tour of the cheese factory, and we were able to hike up to the viewpoint in the gorge which was so picturesque. He has put together this day so well and you get a feel for a part of England that would be so hard to do on your own or with public transportation! We had our 3-year old with us and Daniel was so engaging and patient with him as well. Would highly recommend this tour and if we find ourselves in the area again, we will be booking another tour!

Sublime - So pleased with this tour! Daniel picked us up first to start the morning with a pretty country hike through Cheddar Gorge. We were humbled by the presence of serene wild goats and delicate wildflowers. Daniel was excellent at spotting and sharing insights about the flora and fauna we encountered. He made sure we were safe and comfortable every step of the way, and it really enhanced our experience to have such keen eyes on our side!
From there, Daniel connected us to a bespoke cheddar cheese tour where we learned about the process of cheddar cheese. We were thrilled to take part and contribute to the community in this way, testing and sampling the cheese and acquiring knowledge about this industry and the skilled cheesemakers employed there.
Daniel went the extra mile to help organize this tour-within-a-tour, and acted as a soundboard for all my thoughts and worries in the planning stages of our trip and beyond. Daniel's professionalism and those of the team at the Cheddar Cheese Company helped make a special birthday a precious delight and made us feel so treasured. I have never been so impressed by the friendly collaboration and effort, and that kindness has now become the standard of excellence for all our future trips.
We then finished our tour with a visit to Wells Cathedral. It's hard to comprehend Wells Cathedral from just one take, but it's not just for the proud or the wealthy. Importantly, it doesn't rise higher than the welcome it continues to maintain, so it continues to shine with light-filled interiors and sinuous archways many years after its creation. Daniel was wonderful at pointing out its specific twinkling treasures, such as the Jesse stained glass window, and the characterful clock that still captivates.
He led us to other areas beyond the Cathedral that added completeness and made the perfect capstone to our trip, which was drawing to a close. Thank you Daniel! If you want the exquisite, take this tour.

Off the beaten tourist trails - We engaged Daniel for our 40th anniversary celebration, opting for the Wells and Cheddar Tour. So glad we sidestepped the busy Cotswolds for a ride through the countryside to the smallest city in England.
Daniel is the consummate tour guide and traveler extraordinaire. Having toured around the world, he has a keen sensibility for timing, pace, information and detail (but not too much) that made our experience just right for us.
Wells Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace were architectural marvels. We loved the up-close tour and tastes at an authentic Cheddar Cheese maker, complete with take-home cheeses that have been cured in nearby Cheddar caves.
We also enjoyed a special treat in a stop at a local strawberry farm, plus a decadent brownie treat along the way.
The finale of the day was a short but rocky hike up to the top of Cheddar Gorge for a panoramic view all the way out to the Sea.
Daniel was attentive, responsive, friendly, and professional. The van was impeccably clean, all the way down to the windows, which he shined upon our pickup!
Dan is high in demand, so be sure to book several months ahead of your trip. He raises the bar for warm and personal travel. Highly recommended!

Top class professional trip. - This was an amazing trip which far exceeded our expectations. The views were stunning from the Cheddar Gorge and the knowledge shared by Daniel was exceptional. Daniel was very professional at his job and nothing was too much bother for him. We left Bath with a new friend!

Culture, food and language. The best way to spend a holiday. - My wife Regina and I spent 3 weeks in the UK to improve our English and get to know the country and culture. The highlight was 2 days with Bath Insider Tours. With a local like Daniel as our tour guide, it was an unforgettable experience.

This was a fantastic trip! - Daniel was very kind and knowledgeable, and he tailored the trip to our specific needs (some mobility issues). We took a lovely walk along Wells Cathedral and Bishop's Palace, and then had lunch at a lovely English pub. From there we continued on to Cheddar to learn about the cheese-making process, and then headed to the Gorge, ending with a lovely look-out point on Somerset and the ocean. On the way, Daniel made sure to explain local geography, vegetation, history and myth, and even spoiled us with the most delicious local strawberries. I would not think twice before booking a trip with Daniel, as a great time is guaranteed!

Wells Cathedral and Cheddar Gorge - This was my second time booking Bath Insider Tours and, once again, Daniel did not disappoint! The first time was a Cotswold Tour and this time we covered Wells Cathedral and Cheddar Gorge. Wells Cathedral may be my favorite Cathedral now! Daniel had a few surprises up his sleeve and I came home with some cider and cheese, great photos, and memories to last a lifetime. I especially like how Daniel shows videos of the places so you can see how it was featured in films.

'es a Good'un! - Daniel is your best mate in Bath who is happy to show you the less troden places.
Started with an amazing view over the top of Bath. Well's was a beautiful city and i enjoyed the variety of call outs (Hot Fuzz being filmed, long jump, beautiful architecture and historic insight). Unfortunately, the Cheddar Visitor center was closed (which I was given pleanty of notice about). But the alternative cider/cheese farm was an unexpectedly excelent visit. Cheddar Gorge is a beautiful piece of landscape and I appreciated Daniel quickly changing the tour when the route was a bit wet.
Really enjoyed the day, highly recommended

Highly Recommend!! - We did the Wells Cheddar Gorge full day tour. So much fun! The Cathedral was beautiful and the hike up the gorge was so worth it. We even saw a rainbow which Dan may have arranged...yes he is that good a tour guide. You can’t go wrong with any of his tours!

Amazing day !!! - Our guide, Daniel, arrived at our rented flat and took us on an amazing all day tour ! We started in Bath and proceeded to the sights and areas around Bath. Well's Cathedral was beautiful and the lunch we had at the Crown at Well's was delicious. We had a very interesting and informative visit at the Cheddar Cheese factory and really enjoyed the little town of Cheddar. My son and his wife bravely climbed the Cheddar Gorge and really enjoyed it ! Daniel realized my son's hobby was making craft beer and cider and added a side trip to Wilkin's Farmhouse where we tasted the famous cider that had been talked about on many famous chef's shows. The care and thoughtfulness of the day plan was amazing. We all felt that it was an amazing way to see the area of Bath ! Well worth the money !! Thank-you Daniel !!
