The journey begins with a drive up to the Mount Victoria Lookout, offering breathtaking views of Wellington’s cityscape. The route takes us through Courtenay Place, passing the iconic Embassy Picture Theatre, renowned for hosting the world premieres of “The Return of the King” (2003) and “An Unexpected Journey” (2012).
Next, the adventure continues to Hobbiton Woods, the starting point of the epic trilogy’s filming. This location is famous for scenes such as the Shortcut to Mushrooms, Sam and Frodo’s Second Breakfast, the Hobbits hiding from the Black Rider (“Get off the Road!”), the Race to the Buckleberry Ferry, and King Théoden’s Dunharrow Encampment.
Following this, the tour proceeds to the Weta Workshop in Miramar for an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience. Here, visitors can observe the creation of props and weaponry and possibly meet the talented artists at work.
At the Weta Cave, guests can take photos with iconic figures like Gollum, Lurtz the Uruk-hai, and Bilbo’s three Trolls.
