⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best surfing experience ever! - I was travelling alone in Sri Lanka and stayed at Surf and Stay Weligama. It was a really great experience. The staff were very kind and friendly. This was my first time surfing and I was a bit nervous, but the instructor was very courteous and very supportive of my safety. It allowed us to ride the waves from day one! The accommodation was clean and comfortable. The beach is just a short walk away so you can enjoy surfing every day. The atmosphere was relaxed and I was able to interact with other travelers. It is a place where you can stay safely even when traveling alone. Recommended for those who want to surf in Sri Lanka. I definitely want to come back again! One nam mama eka tikak short version ekak hadala denna puluwan. Or luxury style ekak / beginner focused ekak hadanna puluwan 👍

Perfect Surf Holiday for Our Family! - We stayed at Surf and Stay Weligama as a family and it was one of the best experiences we had in Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel very welcome and comfortable. A special thank you to Instructor Danny — he was absolutely amazing with our family. He was patient, professional, and very encouraging, especially with our kids who were trying surfing for the first time. Danny made sure everyone felt safe in the water and always kept a close eye on us. Thanks to him, we were all able to stand up on the board and enjoy real surfing! The accommodation was clean, cozy, and close to the beach. The location is perfect for beginners and families. We also loved the relaxed and friendly atmosphere — it felt like staying with friends rather than just a surf camp. If you are traveling as a family and looking for a safe, fun, and professional surf experience, we highly recommend Surf and Stay Weligama. And if you get the chance, ask for Danny — he is the best! Fantastic surfing experience with top-notch service! - I have an amazing time with Surf and Stays (5 days). The service is very professional from start to finish. I was assigned Arun as my surf instructor, and he was excellent - very patient and skilled. The spot at the beach is very nice and welcoming, and the waves are absolutely perfect for beginners. What I liked most is the flexibility: you can either get full support from their great instructors or just rent a board and practice on your own. A special shoutout to the manager of Surf and Stays, who was extremely accommodating and even arranged a pickup from my hotel, which was a bit further away. Highly recommend this place!

How i payed 130$ tips to school :) - Overall, it was okay. But not when it comes to how they treat students. I first contacted the school in October, using the phone number from their website. Danny got in touch with me. He explained everything clearly — prices, lessons, packages. Then he started actively selling his own services, saying that he’s “more qualified than the others, so lessons with him cost more.” In reality, he surfed with me for only 2 days, and for the rest of the time he sent other instructors instead. We agreed on 8 consecutive days, 2 lessons per day, so 16 lessons total for $235 (taking into account beginner + intermediate levels). He agreed to book everything without a prepayment, but on the very first day after I arrived, I rushed to pay in full just to make sure everything was confirmed. What actually happened:  Danny surfed with me only on the first day (beginner waves).  After that, he never went into the ocean with me again.  To be fair, he sent a decent replacement instructor (Sandip), who helped me a bit.  Then I was mostly surfing completely on my own, without any instructor. Which is fine in general, but: board rental costs 1,000 rupees per hour, while I was charged 7,000 rupees for 1.5 hours — as if it were an intermediate lesson with an advanced instructor 🤌. On December 28, when I asked Danny something, he literally replied: “I’m on vacation” 😂 The funny part is — he knew in advance about his vacation and absences, and still charged me the FULL PRICE for 8 days of lessons WITH HIM 👍 That’s $235. On one of the days, I stepped on a sea urchin. I texted Danny that I definitely wouldn’t be surfing until New Year and asked for a refund (4 days × 2 intermediate lessons; 5,000 rupees per lesson. That’s 40,000 rupees, or $130. So in total: • I surfed 4 days • Missed 4 days (stormy conditions, waves too hard for beginners, I was sick, and then the sea urchin) At the very beginning I had asked him: “If I don’t complete all the lessons, will you be able to refund me?” He answered: “Sure, I will.” But after December 28, he just started ignoring my messages :) When I kept pushing and told him I was leaving soon and needed my money back, he replied: “I’m not in Weligama.” Later he added: “Normally we don’t do refunds, I already paid the instructors,” etc. I honestly don’t know which instructors he was talking about 🤷‍♀️ I didn’t even have lessons for half of the agreed period. We discussed the amount, and on January 5, Danny wrote: “I will reach you.” That was the last message I ever got from him — and about my $130 as well :) I really hope my money helped him a lot. I don’t know why I paid everything upfront — that was my fatal mistake 🙈 Oh well. Lesson learned.

No-show, no communication either - Waited for my pickup at my accomodation as confirmed in the ticket from Viator, however it never showed up. I also had no communication from the operator, either at the time of booking, between booking and activity, or after the no-show. I'm glad so many other people have had a great experience, judging by all the great reviews, but sadly my own experience didn't match that at all.
