A Family Adventure in the Enchanting World of Crystals

Drawn by the allure of crystal art, our family embarked on a journey to Wattens to explore the Swarovski Crystal Worlds. What awaited us was a day filled with wonder, creativity, and unforgettable experiences.

A Dazzling Day in Wattens

Our family has always been drawn to places that offer a blend of culture, art, and entertainment, and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds in Wattens, Tyrol, promised just that. As a museum curator, I am always on the lookout for experiences that can captivate both adults and children alike, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. My wife and I, along with our two children, decided to dedicate a day to exploring this world of crystal art.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by the iconic Giant, a massive head sculpted into the landscape, which serves as the entrance to the Crystal Worlds. The children were immediately intrigued, and their excitement was contagious. As we stepped inside, we were enveloped in a cool, serene environment, a welcome respite from the summer heat outside.

The Chambers of Wonder were a highlight for all of us. Each room offered a unique theme, showcasing the versatility and beauty of crystal art. The children were particularly fascinated by the lifelike projections in the Heroes of Peace chamber, while my wife and I marveled at the intricate designs and the stories they told. It was a sensory feast, and we found ourselves lost in the magic of each chamber, eager to see what the next one would reveal.

A Playground of Imagination

Beyond the Chambers of Wonder, the outdoor areas of the Crystal Worlds offered a playground of imagination for our children. The innovative play-tower and outdoor playground landscape were a hit, providing them with plenty of space to climb, explore, and let their imaginations run wild. It was a joy to watch them play, their laughter echoing through the gardens.

The Crystal Cloud, with its 800,000 hand-mounted crystals, was a sight to behold. It shimmered in the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing display that captivated us all. We spent a considerable amount of time here, simply taking in the beauty and the tranquility of the surroundings.

The newly installed carousel was another highlight. It was not just a ride, but an experience in itself, with its artistic design and vibrant colors. Even as adults, my wife and I couldn’t resist taking a ride, finding our inner children as we spun around, surrounded by the stunning Tyrolean landscape.

A Culinary Delight

As the day drew to a close, we made our way to Daniel’s, the on-site restaurant. We were fortunate to secure a table with a breathtaking view of the Tyrolean mountains. The ambiance was perfect, with Swarovski lanterns casting a gentle glow over the tables.

The menu offered a delightful selection of dishes, and we indulged in a culinary experience that was as exquisite as the crystal art we had just explored. The service was impeccable, attentive yet unobtrusive, allowing us to savor our meal and the stunning views in peace.

Reflecting on our day at the Swarovski Crystal Worlds, it was clear that this was more than just a visit to an art installation. It was an immersive experience that engaged all our senses, leaving us with memories that we will cherish for years to come. As we left, my wife and I were already discussing when we might return, eager to explore the corners we had missed and to relive the magic once more.
