Farafenni - DAY 1: The tour begins at 7:00 am from the hotel lobby. After efficiently packing the luggage, the journey commences promptly, promising an unparalleled experience. Traveling along the SeneGambia highway, numerous villages and hamlets are passed, offering a serene view of the picturesque countryside.
After approximately three hours on the road, the first stop is at Farafenni for some refreshing fruits and snacks. Farafenni is a significant commercial hub in the North Bank Region (NBR), located just south of the Senegal border. A 20-minute stroll through the market provides an authentic glimpse into local market life in The Gambia. Following this, a 15-minute donkey or horse ride around the market offers insight into the traditional modes of transportation in the North Bank Region.
Stone Circles of Senegambia - From Farafenni, the journey continues to the Stone Circle, a historic site in The Gambia. These Stone Circles served as burial mounds for kings and high-ranking chiefs. The history and transportation of the stones will be detailed, followed by a visit to the cultural museum. Cultural artifacts and tools will be explained during a leisurely tour.
River Gambia National Park - After visiting the Wassu Stone Circle, the tour proceeds to Kairoh Gardens in Kuntaur. Following lunch at Kairoh Gardens, a boat trip on the River Gambia offers the chance to observe hippos in their natural environment. A visit to the chimpanzee rehabilitation center allows for observing chimps being fed by rangers. The day concludes with a journey to Georgetown, arriving at the Boa Bolong Annex lodge. After dinner, guests retire for the night to be well-rested for Day 2.
