Highly recommend this tour - Joey our tour guide was full of knowledge. She told so many interesting facts and stories. She was able to answer all questions any of us had. I highly recommend this tour. Leonard was a great driver navigating our drive to/from DC. Mount Vernon is a must see. Even with renovations in progress was fascinating.

Great tour made better with Mr Deion! - Mr Deion was amazing along with Mr Earl and Mr Calvin. Mr Deion has been doing this for over 30 years so really knows a lot about everything not just about Mt Vernon and the area around Alexandria but also any questions during the trip. He truly is one of the best tour guides I ever had, domestically and internationally. He has a plethora of knowledge not just about the tour but about everything in the world. He is also very mindful of each person's condition and has the forethought to make our tours easier. That day, it was 101 degrees and in DC, that is hot!! He made sure to look for shade and gave us plenty of water. He is also flexible with our interests. We really enjoyed our tour with Mr Deion and the whole crew.

Home of America’s first President - Renovations going on while we were there so we only got to see a couple of rooms in the actual house & some were under construction as well. That’s why this review didn’t get a better rating. The grounds are extensive so you will be doing a lot of walking if you want to see everything. For example his grave is quite a good distance from the house. No buses or anything to take you there, just your own legs. The wreath-laying ceremony is great to see & they let volunteers from the visitors do things. One lays the wreath & another reads from Washington’s prayer for the country. Each gets a signed certificate showing that they participated. Never saw Washington’s false teeth. Supposedly you can see 3 sets @ mount Vernon, however we didn’t see them. I’m assuming because of renovations & maybe that room was off limits.
