• Goat Island Marine Reserve - This stunning reserve is teeming with life, offering the chance to explore alongside some incredibly friendly fish. You’ll encounter Snapper, Red Moki, Goatfish, Triple fins, and schools of fish like Parore, Kahawai, Sweep, Silver Drummers, and Trevally, just to name a few! There are also large Crayfish hiding among the rocks, as well as Octopuses, Stingrays, and Eaglerays. Occasionally, dolphins or Orcas make an appearance to greet visitors!

Goat Island’s Shore Dive Sites

ABC Bay - Dive into a bay teeming with stingrays and blue maomao, explore kelp forests, and glide along cliff sides.

Shag Rock - This large, solitary rock is encircled by kelp and is a favorite among fish, making it a top choice for divers!

Waterfall Reef - Located on the southern side of the channel, this site is bustling with schools of fish and crayfish.

Caves - Home to anemones, nudibranchs, and sponges, this site is perfect for invertebrate and macro enthusiasts.

Yellow Sponge Garden - Venture through expansive crevices draped in kelp, uncover hidden crayfish, bigeye, and tiny triple fins.

Eagle Ray Flats - Observe eagle rays basking on the sand, schools of fish feeding in the currents, and our renowned snapper cruising by with curiosity.

All dives are conducted from the shore within the Goat Island Marine Reserve.

Note: Not all dive spots are accessible at all times; the current and tides must be suitable for entry. Some dive spots also require a surface swim.
