The park is home to abundant wildlife, including gazelles, Uganda kob, warthogs, and waterbucks. Lions are often seen both inside and at the entrance to the park. Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - After an early morning breakfast, prepare for an encounter with the mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is home to both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees - the only forest in Africa with this distinction. It also hosts five other primate species, 113 mammal species, over 200 butterflies, and 360 bird species. Gorilla tracking is unpredictable, so it’s hard to predict how many hours you will hike. The adventure of tracking gorillas in the park’s superb ecosystem will thrill adventurers. It may take 2 to 9 hours or more, and you should be prepared to walk long distances in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before encountering any gorillas. “The excitement of seeing the gorillas makes it all worthwhile!” A briefing will be given on how to interact with these gentle giants. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist!’ Overnight at Gorilla Valley Lodge.
Sabyinyo Volcano Hiking Adventure
Mount Sabinyo - Climbing the extinct volcano is done in southwestern Uganda and involves climbing three peaks. The hike to Sabyinyo takes you through muddy trails, often on wooden ladders, with expectations of patchy rain and clearing clouds as you reach the beautiful view of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. At times, the view is reduced to 10 feet. Reach the summit view, and from here, you will be able to see and stand in all three countries: Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. This hike sometimes involves walking straight up the mountain without going around it. The views and challenges of hiking Mt. Sabyinyo make it worthwhile for adventurers.
Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for Canoe Trekking
Lake Bunyonyi - After breakfast at 9:00 AM, head to Lake Bunyonyi, or ‘Place of Little Birds’. The lake lies close to the border with Rwanda and is considered one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa and one of the few places in the country where it is safe to swim (as it is bilharzia-free) and enjoy canoe trekking. The islands on the lake are perfect for relaxing, trying water sports, and immersing yourself in the natural beauty of your surroundings. The nearby hills and papyrus swamps offer many opportunities for bird watching, and the shady eucalyptus trees provide peaceful places to sit and read a book.
