Many of their traditional ‘Bedouin Roads’ have been rediscovered and documented by contemporary climbers. Several of these routes are featured in the climbing guidebook by Tony Howard and are available online by Lien and Gilles Papineau.[13]
In 1949, Sheikh Hamden led surveyors to the summit of Jabal Ram. The first documented European ascent of Jabal Ram occurred in November 1952, by Charmian Langstaff and Sylvia Branford, with guidance from Sheikh Hamden.
