The Treasury - The tour begins at the horse riding point, where the operator will meet travelers. Along the journey, many of Petra’s caves and attractions can be seen. Travelers will arrive at the SIQ, the ancient main entrance to Petra, which starts at the Dam and ends at the opposite side of the vault. This split rock stretches about 1200 meters in length, with a width ranging from 3 to 12 meters, and a height reaching up to 80 meters. At the Siq’s entrance, remnants of the city’s gate are visible. On either side of the Siq, channels were constructed to draw water from Wadi Musa (the Valley of Moses). The Siq opens up to Petra’s most stunning sight, Alkhazneh, which stands nearly 40 meters high and is intricately adorned with Corinthian capitals, friezes, figures, and more.
-
Qasr al-Bint - The Nabataean temple of Qasr Al-Bint stands within a large paved temenos, reaching a height of 23 meters. It is encircled by a peribolos, an enclosure wall, with seats added during the reign of King Aretas IV. Travelers can explore chambers with balcony roofs, accessible via stairways built into the walls.
-
Street of Facades - This name refers to the row of monumental Nabataean tombs carved into the southern cliff face, located past the Treasury and adjacent to the outer Siq. As travelers pass the Treasury, the Siq gradually widens into an open area. On both sides, there are numerous Nabataean burial facades adorned with grindstones and other decorations.
-
The Urn Tomb - This tomb is preceded by a deep courtyard with colonnades on two sides. High up in the facade, there are three niches leading to small burial chambers, which were adapted in 446 AD to serve as a Byzantine church.
