• St Nicholas’ Fortress - Protected by UNESCO, this fortress is a key Venetian fortification outside of Venice, constructed to defend against the Ottomans. Renowned as one of the most stunning forts on the Adriatic, it was built on the islet of Ljuljevac, which is now accessible by land. At its construction in 1540, it cost 40,000 ducats, equivalent to half of Dalmatia. The fortress was built by the esteemed Venetian Sanmicheli family.
• Sibenik - Šibenik, a historic Croatian city, was first documented in the mid-11th century in a record by King Petar Krešimir IV. The cityscape is dominated by its four fortresses: St Nicholas, St Michael, St John, and Barone. Among its 24 churches and six monasteries, the Cathedral of St James stands out as a unique European sacral monument, entirely constructed of stone. This masterpiece by Juraj Dalmatinac and Nikola Firentinac is under UNESCO World Heritage protection.
• Prokljansko Jezero - Gavan’s Court is a site on Lake Prokljan where historical remnants such as marble fragments, decorated stones, Roman bricks, lead pipes, and jewelry have been discovered. According to legend, a proud wealthy woman, a “gavanuša”, rudely dismissed an angel disguised as a beggar three times, leading the angel to flood her court, thus creating Lake Prokljan. (gavan = rich, arrogant, haughty man)
• Skradinski Buk Waterfall - After visiting Šibenik, the journey continues down the Krka estuary to Prokljan Lake and through the canyon to Skradinski Buk, arriving at Krka National Park around 11:30 am. Visitors can enjoy a break for swimming and touring the park, which includes watermills, Skradinski Buk, the Jaruga hydroelectric power plant, restaurants, a souvenir shop, and relaxation. With its seven travertine waterfalls, it is a natural wonder. Krka National Park features the most beautiful sections of the Krka River and the lower flow of the Čikola River, rich in natural, cultural, and historical landmarks.
