• Vung Tau Beach - Vung Tau boasts four well-known beaches: Front Beach, Back Beach, Pineapple Beach, and Paradise Beach. Front Beach (Bãi Trước) is the most frequented, which might be a reason for some to avoid it. Besides the crowds, the water is quite polluted and the beach setup isn’t ideal. However, you can still savor fresh seafood at the numerous stalls and restaurants, which serve some of the tastiest seafood in southern Vietnam. For a better beach experience, try one of the other three beaches. Back Beach (Bãi Sau) is much cleaner and perfect for surfing. With excellent wind swells, kitesurfing shops have emerged over the years, offering rentals and classes for all skill levels.

• Christ The King Statue - The Statue of Christ the King is a must-see on Vung Tau day tours. Visible from all parts of the city, the best way to appreciate it is by climbing to the top of Little Mountain. From there, you can ascend the observatory within the statue and enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding sea. Constructed in the early 1970s, the statue was completed over a span of more than 20 years. Its arms stretch 18 meters wide, and it stands 32 meters tall, making it two meters taller than the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.

• White Palace - Bach Dinh, or the White Palace, is situated at 4 Tran Phu Street on the slope of Big Mountain. Standing 50 meters above sea level, it is also known by its French name, La Villa Blanche. Built in 1898, it served as a summer villa for French Governor General Paul Doumer. Named after his beloved daughter, Doumer had to return to France and later became the President of France before the structure was completed. It wasn’t until 1916 that it was officially used as a holiday retreat for some Indochina-French Governors. The palace’s all-white appearance is captivating, which is why locals call it “Bach Dinh” (“Bach” means white in Vietnamese).

• Thich Ca Phat Dai - Thich Ca Phat Dai (Platform of Shakyamuni Buddha) is a prominent Theravada Buddhist temple in Vung Tau. Located northwest of Lớn Mountain, it was constructed between 1961 and 1963. The site spans around five hectares, featuring a Zen Buddhist monastery at the base and the Thích Ca Phật Đài at the top. The Zen monastery, a small brick temple, was built by a local government official in 1957. In 1961, the Buddhist association renovated the monastery and decided to build the Thich Ca Phat Dai further up the mountain. Additional lodgings were added to accommodate Buddhist pilgrims visiting the site.

• The Whale Temple - Adjacent to Thang Tam’s Holy Temple, the Whale Tomb was constructed at the same time as the Temple of the Five Elements in the late 19th century. The tomb houses a massive whale skeleton collected by local fishermen over a century ago. According to local lore, in the mid-19th century, a giant whale head washed ashore at Tam Duong Beach. The head was so large that villagers had to fence it off with bamboo sticks and wait several days for the flesh to decompose, leaving the bones. These bones were then carried to the temple, where they have been worshipped ever since. Over the years, more whale bones have been collected and preserved at the temple.

• Chơn Không Monastery - One of the most beautiful monasteries in Vung Tau, Chon Khong Monastery features the largest golden Buddha. The monastery underwent expansion and added new facilities and decorations in early 2022. It offers a stunning view of the city from its hilltop location.
