- Wat Si Saket - The guide and driver will collect guests from their hotel in Vientiane and journey through the quaint center to explore the highlights of the Laotian capital. The first stop is Wat Sisaket, the oldest monastery in Vientiane, constructed in 1818. This temple has remained in its original state, unlike other temples in Vientiane that have undergone significant renovations. Inside the main hall and along the courtyard walls, there are 6,840 Buddha images nestled in small niches or placed on shelves, alongside its stunning frescoes.
- Wat Ho Phra Keo - The tour continues to the nearby Ho Phra Keo, the former Royal temple, now a Museum of Buddhist art and sculpture. This building once housed the Emerald Buddha until it was moved to Bangkok after a conflict with the Lao in 1778. It still showcases some of the finest Buddha sculptures in the country. An original jar from the world-famous Plain of Jars is also located within this temple complex, along with special displays of various artifacts and manuscripts.
- Great Sacred Stupa (Pha That Luang) - The That Luang, with its golden stupa shaped like a banana flower, is the most revered shrine in Laos and is a must-see. As Laos’ national symbol, it features a central structure that stands 45 meters tall and mirrors the curving lines of an elongated lotus bud. The original stupa is said to contain a relic of the Lord Buddha.
- Patuxay Monument - Dominating the Vientiane skyline, the Patuxai Victory Gate is located at the northern city boundaries. Also known as Anousavali, it was built in 1958 and inspired by the Arc de Triumph in Paris. Energetic visitors can climb to the top of the monument to enjoy a panoramic view of Laos’ capital from Vientiane’s highest point (not included).
After approximately 3.5 hours of touring Vientiane’s most revered landmarks and iconic sights, the guide and driver will return guests to their hotel.
