The Courbet exhibition is excellent - I would include the Leopold in my "top five" cultural or museum visits in Vienna. I'm not a huge fan of Klimt or Schiele, but the contextualisation and information provided about their work - and Vienna of their times - was very interesting. The furniture, glass and jewellery exhibits were excellent. I was lucky on our visit that the excellent Courbet exhibition was running. So much of his art (including the key works) on display and - again - superbly informative background material. The Courbet is running until June 21st and I would say it's a "must" for anyone visiting Vienna.

Perfect for art history lovers - The Leopold Museum is an absolute must-visit for anyone looking to understand the evolution of Austrian art history. My visit was incredibly eye-opening; it provided a clear narrative of how the country moved from traditional styles into the bold era of Viennese Modernism. The museum houses an unparalleled collection of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, which helped me connect the dots between the art of the time and the social shifts happening in Vienna around 1900. Seeing these masterpieces in person made the history feel tangible and deeply personal. It’s more than just a gallery, it's a comprehensive lesson on Austria’s cultural identity.

Acceptable if the staff is right - It was interesting and there is 4 floor to visit. Too bad that when I arrived last time for a free card, the security guard didn't even let me in, even though there were 45 minutes left at the end. He laughed at me, lied that there's nothing on the upper floors but cafeteria and made a pretty bad impression.
