Game Viewing Safari in the Chobe National Park - The Extended Version
Chobe National Park - Enjoy two activities in the renowned Chobe National Park, experiencing the best of both worlds in specially adapted open 4x4s and by boat. This unique opportunity offers some of the finest up-close game viewing Africa has to offer.
Guests will be picked up from their hotel at 05:00 hours for the transfer to Chobe National Park (Botswana) via the Zambezi National Parks. This is the optimal time to encounter some of the park’s big cats and other nocturnal animals during the one-hour drive to the border through the Zambezi National Park.
Arriving at the Chobe National Park gate slightly before 06:30 hours, the day begins with a half-day game drive in the park. This offers a great chance to connect with nature using specially adapted open 4x4 vehicles. Frequent lion sightings occur in Chobe, and Eland, Sable, and Roan antelope are common at certain times of the year. Leopards, though elusive, are also common in the area. Drives typically follow the waterfront where game gathers to quench their thirst, with lions often resting in the shade. Complimentary soft drinks are served throughout the trip, providing some of the best game viewing in Africa. The drive continues until a lunch break at about 12:30 hours.
Lunch, served buffet-style, will be at the Chobe Safari Lodge (or similar), and after lunch, guests will have time to relax before the afternoon boat cruise on the Chobe River.
This three-hour cruise begins at 15:00 hours and ends at 18:00 hours. The cruise offers the chance to see a variety of waders and water birds, along with ever-present crocodiles and lurking hippos. Chobe is famous for large herbivores making their way to the river to drink, notably Cape buffalo and elephant. On the island, Puku and Lechwe are often seen, and on the banks, kudu, impala, and waterbuck are common. The African sunset from the boat on the Chobe River is a highlight. Complimentary soft drinks, tea, coffee, and a light snack are included on the boat.
Guests will arrive at the Zimbabwe border at 19:00 hours for the transfer back to their Victoria Falls hotel. This is also an excellent time to spot the cats of the Zambezi National Park as they hunt. Guests will reach their hotel around 20:00 hours, in time for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
