A highlight of our trip! - This was a highlight on our recent visit to Iceland. We were part of a small group excursion from our Viking cruise and had a fantastic time. Both of us in our 60’s, and thankfully we had been riding our bikes for a couple of months to prepare for this! You get some instruction on the scooters & then some practice in the parking lot before you head out. Gorgeous drive out to the puffin colony! Stunning scenery! There were thousands of puffins!! I could not stop taking pictures!! Our guide was very enthusiastic about maintaining the colony & preserving the population. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone lucky enough to get to visit!!

Great. Great. - What a good guide we had. The electric scooters, you have to learn to deal with them but once you have mastered it you go like the fire brigade. We went to explore the island of Heimaey with the puffins as the end. What beautiful pictures I was able to take. Unfortunately, I can't post any photos with the review.

Best Way to See the Puffins - We had a fantastic trip with Eyjascooter while in Heimaey. The scooters were easy to ride - even for a couple of 60 year olds - and comfortable. This tour allows more time at the puffin colony than most other tours/combo tours and our guide was very knowledgeable about both Heimaey and the puffins. We would definitely recommend them.

Beautiful Views of Puffin Colony- easy to book on your own, dont need to book it via your cruise excursions. - EYJASCOOTER Puffin Tours was part of our Viking Excursion. We docked at the Island then walked via tour guide to their shop location. The group started as 12, 9 stayed and attended. The Tour Company explained the process thoroughly to all guest, fitted them for helmets and safety vests. Each guests must sign a liability waiver. Then they fitted us for scooters, It has 2 tires (total) (front/ back) regular looking standup scooter with a seat and fatter tires. They instructed all riders and had them practice in the parking lot The majority of our group was in their mid- late 70's so 3 people backed out. They provided a full refund to those who did not feel comfortable riding. Once everyone was ready- which really took a long time due to the participants, we drove through town following our guide (one front and one in the rear) to a local clifftop with a look out wooded patio. It was a beautiful sight. We stayed around 15 minutes then rode down to the town where we had a brief history of the 1970's volcano eruption and how it impacted the town. We then returned to the shop. We walked on our own back to the pier where the ship tenders were located. Here are my recommendations- Book directly , no need to go through your tour company or through a ship, it's a short easy excursion. 2) try to go with similar aged people so you are all at the same pace. If you stick closer to the guide as requested, you hear more interesting info. 3) wear gloves and take a rain poncho or rain gear in case it rains. All in all, I would do it again but I'd look for a younger audience so we have more time to enjoy the sites and tour and less time practicing. ( my age at time or tour was 61.

I'm a little short on puffins. - Scooter practice was suddenly on the public road. I had no experience with electric kickboards, so I felt like pulling the lever of the scooter was a little stronger, so I was dragged a little and fell. Luckily, I wasn't hurt, but I punctured the knee of my rainwear pants. After that, I practiced driving several times in the square, but I think the order of practice is reversed. I think you should push your scooter to the square first and then practice in the square. I was able to see the puffins, but even though the observation time was short, the guide's explanation was kind of long. (The explanation was great.) I came to Heimaei Island to see puffins, so I wanted to have time to observe them quietly and take some more pictures. Also, the description of the activity on this web only said that it was a tour to see puffins, not to go see the volcano. Wouldn't it be better to add to the 1972 eruption because it's something that should be passed down for posterity?
