Excellent foof & wine tour in Verona. - Valeria was a wonderful tour guide. Great conversations. We really enjoyed learning about the history, art/architecture and food/wines of Verona region. This tour included 4 excellent local places to taste authentic Veronese dishes as well as the wine selections from Valpolicella, Soave, Lugana. I highly recommend this excellent tour before you start exploring historical Verona on your own.

Fabulous way to enjoy a birthday dinner and an amazing way to experience Verona - Oh my word what a fantastic evening. We booked this as my husbands birthday dinner with a twist. Laura our guide was extremely knowledgeable about Verona and the local food and her English was excellent, she took us to a number of small local establishments away from the tourist hot spots and the food was exceptional. She introduced us to local wines and food we would have have tried for found on our own, we walked through squares that were too crowded for us during the day but so peaceful in the evening and explained the history of the people and buildings around us. We both thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Laura and Do Eat Better, one of our best Birthday Meal outings!

Wonderful tour with a wonderful guide: Francesca - We believe that the best way to experience a new city is through its food (and beverage), preferably with a local guide, and even better if it's on foot. On this tour, we were so lucky to be paired with Francesca, who was an enthusiastic and passionate guide, eager to share the city's best local meals, its history and some tips for our stay. Francesca took us to three meal spots, plus a gelato shop to close everything out. We started at Scapin dal 1935, where we sampled three versions of ciccheti (one Baccalà mantecato, one sopressa and one vegetable) paired with a red wine from Bartolino. We enjoyed all three versions, but the sopressa here was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the Baccalà was creamy and smooth. Our next stop was Trattoria alla Colonna where Francesca pointed out the local dishes then invited us to choose our meal - and make no mistake, it was a full meal. I went with the Bigoli con il musso (donkey meat ragu) and my husband ordered the Gnocchi al gorgonzola, both regional dishes. And yes, I did type "donkey ragu", which was a first for either of us, and which tasted just like beef. I hope those reading this review don't squinch an eye at the meat choice; it's historical to this region and they're proud of the dish. And for good reason - the meat was tender and the flavor was savory and rich. The gnocchi was also quite tasty - the gorgonzola cream sauce wasn't too strong and the gnocchi was expertly cooked. The wine here was a glass of the house red. Our final stop was Ostregheteria Sottoriva 23, a charmingly-packed wine haven. Francesca once again pointed out the local specialties, and we ordered accordingly. I went with the Polenta de caval (horse meat) and my husband got the Polenta sopressa and mushrooms. Francesca was right in recommending the horse meat polenta - it was tender and savory, with a cinnamon balance that perked up the flavor a bit. My husband liked the soppessa polenta, but we were both so full by that point that we couldn't really finish the meals, sadly. Our wine pair for this meal was an excellent glass of Valpolicella Superiore. As we were patting our stomachs talking about how satiated we were, Francesca mentioned she wanted to bring us to a gelato shop to close out the tour. Full as we were, we knew we couldn't say no to a good gelato! So our true final stop was Q.B. Gelato, where I got a scoop of Pistachio and a scoop of Salted Caramel, and my husband got double scoop pistachio. And as expected, Francesca's recommendation was spot on: the gelato was creamy and smooth, had great flavor and hit the spot! As full and sated as we were at the end of the tour, what made the day even better was Francesca. Not just her knowledge of the city and her tips and recommendations, but also her friendliness and the fact that we connected over our shared love of travel and exploring new cultures. Highly recommend this tour - and Francesca, if you can request a guide - for the quality of meal options, the glimpse of city history and the fun and friendly guide.

A new experience to discover a city - It was a new and pleasant experience for us food lovers. Walking through the streets of Verona our guide Francesca told us many stories about the city and at the table, as well as taking us to taste typical local dishes in less touristic but historical taverns, she was able to entertain us with various talks. I recommend it for those who want to eat and drink well and in the meantime acculturate and make new acquaintances.
