• Tanahati Monastery - This site features an 8th-century monastery nestled between mountains, known as Tanahat. Visitors will explore its rich history and experience the interior of Armenian churches. Nearby, the ruins of Gladzor University can be found, a place renowned worldwide during the Middle Ages for its role in the Armenian struggle for freedom.
• Zorats Church - While walking through Yeghegis village, visitors will encounter Zorats Church (also known as Saint Stepanos). Established in the 14th century during the Armenian resistance against Turkic tribes, Yeghegis was a significant economic and political hub in the Middle Ages. It served as the seat of the Orbelian Dynasty in the 13th and 14th centuries, which governed much of Zangezur. However, following invasions by Timur’s armies, as well as Turkmen and Persian forces, Orbelian rule concluded by the 15th century. After numerous earthquakes devastated Yeghegis and the local Armenian population was forcibly relocated to Persia, the village was deserted. Later, it was repopulated by Turkish-speaking residents. After the Sumgait pogrom in 1988, Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan settled in the village. Today, only Armenians reside here, and they may even invite visitors for a cup of tea or coffee.
• Yeghegis - Lunch will be enjoyed in a perfect spot with a stunning view. Armenian cuisine will captivate with its exquisite taste and variety.
• Yeghegis - During the stroll, visitors will also encounter the Church of St. Virgin Mary. The ruins of this magnificent church, which has stood for centuries, have always been a central site for pilgrims.
