Known as Aigai, it was the first capital of Ancient Macedonia until 400 BC, when the capital moved to Pella. It was believed to be the burial site for all Macedonian Kings. Enter the underground structure with your guide and marvel at some of the most significant artifacts that once belonged to Philip II, including the King’s shield decorated with ivory and gold, the King’s gold-trimmed iron breastplate, exquisitely crafted Gold Diadems, the Golden Wreath of oak leaves, the gold-plated collar, and the Silver Burial Urns.
