Experience the rich history of the world’s oldest Jewish quarter - This is a non-strenuous walking tour that starts with the founding of the Venetian Jewish ghetto — the word “ghetto” has an interesting origin — in 1516. Somehow these Jews — so small in numbers — continue to survive. Our tour guide, Elena, looking so modern wearing a New York Yankees cap, is in sharp contrast to the 500 year history of which she tells us with such richness. As a resident of the ghetto (along with her family) her words have that much greater meaning. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in Jewish history and the perseverance of its people.

A Must-Do Tour (with Elena) for Anyone Interested in Jewish History - Elena was sweet, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. Because our group was small, she tailored the tour to what we were most interested in, which made the experience feel very personal. It was especially inspiring to hear her story as a Jew from Venice with deep family roots in the city. Her personal connection added a powerful dimension to the history she shared. The Jewish Ghetto itself is quite small, so the real value of the tour is learning about the history of the Jewish community in Venice and hearing Elena bring that history to life. I cannot recommend her highly enough. We love learning about Jewish history around the world, and meeting Elena made this experience especially meaningful. She was AMAZING!

Tour of Jewish Ghetto of Venice - My father and I took a tour of the Jewish Ghetto in Venice about a week ago, and it was truly a wonderful experience thanks to our guide, Elena. Elena was friendly, personable, and exceptionally knowledgeable. Having been born and raised in Venice—and still living in the Jewish Ghetto—she brought a depth of personal history and lived experience that greatly enriched the tour. Her connection to the place was evident in every explanation and story she shared. What stood out most was her genuine interest in engaging with us. Elena took the time to ask about our backgrounds, was eager to learn from us, and answered all of our questions thoughtfully and with great care. Her willingness to share stories and experiences from her own life allowed us to see the Ghetto not just as a historical site, but through the eyes of someone who truly calls it home. She was kind, patient, and happy to answer additional questions—not only about the Jewish Ghetto, but about Venice more generally. We left with a much deeper understanding of the area and a real appreciation for both its history and its present-day life. I would highly recommend this tour, and especially Elena, to anyone looking for a meaningful, personal, and authentic perspective on the Jewish Ghetto in Venice.
