- Doge’s Palace - Upon entering the Palace, you will walk through the grand courtyard and marvel at the intricate details of the renowned Golden Staircase.
Inside the Palace, you will explore the rooms where the Duke (Doge) and his Council governed the fate of the Serene Republic, amidst hundreds of artistic masterpieces, and uncover the political history of Venice and its citizens. You will have the opportunity to admire paintings by some of the most significant artists of the Italian Renaissance, including the world’s largest oil painting by Tintoretto.
- Ponte dei Sospiri - Crossing the iconic Bridge of Sighs, you will arrive at the new prisons. The bridge was named by the English poet Lord Byron, likely alluding to the final sighs of prisoners who caught their last glimpse of the lagoon and Venice from the bridge’s window before being incarcerated.
This guided tour concludes in the courtyard of the Doge’s Palace. Here, you can linger longer inside the Palace, soaking in the history and mystery of bygone days.
