Beautiful, informative and Poignant - My friend and I had a fantastic time discovering both the beauty and darker past of the Laura Plantation. Our guide Mark gave us an excellent, informative tour en français, which was wonderful as my friend understood very little English. Because of our Louisiana culture, more places should offer tours and/or information in French. It really is helpful (and pertinent). Merci à Mark and the Laura Plantation staff!

French Creole Plantation - a rich little known history. - We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the plantation. Our guide did an excellent job of explaining the history of this slave plantation that eventually was run by the French Creole people that were enslaved there. Also, it was a small museum well worth your time to read all the articles that they post. We were glad we chose this less glamorous plantation with such a rich history.

Guided tour in French - We made the tour in French with Joseph. We were lucky enough to be on a solo guided tour because no one else. Joseph is a mine of history and anecdotes about planting. Passionate about his work, he transports you in his story. We loved our experience and I recommend with my eyes closed. Thanks again for the experience 🙏

The real scoop! - We got the real scoop from our tour guide and not a canned half truth about slavery. In fact we learned that there quite a few black slave owners in the South.
