A stone's throw from heaven - An incredible route, above all expectations passing through lagoons, deserts, volcanoes and endless horizons. A huge thanks to Víctor, the Guide who accompanied us in these 3 days. Víctor was a very cautious host, extremely helpful and flexible, knowledgeable and very friendly, really pleasant company. Our journey started in Uyuni, we reached the country by bus coming from the Argentine border (the Quiaca / Villazon). The road is all paved and by bus it took about 5/6 hours. The arrival in Uyuni was faster and easier than I had imagined. To visit the jump lake and the lagoons it is essential to rely on a tour operator, some roads are not paved and there is not much signage, also the salt lake is so vast that it is easy to get lost. The tour I chose included accommodation in comfortable hotels or the Hotel Luna de Sal, on the shore of the salt lake , (beautiful and comfortable) and the hotel Tayka del Deserto in the De Siloli desert at more than 4000 meters above sea level. I have to thank Victor again for making himself available to an unexpected change and allowing us to continue our journey to Chile, saving us several hours on the road. We then crossed the remote border of Hito Cajon and reached San Pedro de Atacama (from there we then took a bus to return to Argentina in Jujuy). Before closing , we found it difficult to withdraw money both in Argentina and Bolivia so Recommendation to bring cash also because from my experience the official exchange applied use the card is less convenient than that applied by currency exchangers.
