UYUNI SALT FLATS
Salar de Uyuni - Begin the tour departing from Uyuni town at 10:30 am with a visit to the train graveyard. Proceed to the quaint settlement of Colchani, where salt miners’ workshops are located, and explore handicrafts made from salt and textile art crafted from llama and alpaca. Next, visit “Ojos de Agua Salada” and a hotel entirely constructed of salt, now serving as a museum, followed by the world flags and Dakar monument in the heart of the Uyuni Salt Flats. Continue with a brief hike to “Isla Incahuasi” to admire giant cacti and rock formations of petrified coral. Enjoy lunch, then experience the breathtaking sunset over the salt flats. Conclude the day by arriving at San Juan town for dinner and an overnight stay in a hostel made of salt.
Andean Lagoons + Siloli Desert + Rock Tree + Red Lagoon
Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - Begin the day at 7:00 am with breakfast. The first stop is Galaxy Caves, followed by a visit to the Chiguana Desert on the southern side of the Uyuni salt flats, encircled by volcanoes like the active Ollagüe (5840m), visible from a lookout point. Continue along the rocky path known as “El Pasito Tuntun.” Later, visit the Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons, where flamingos can be observed.
Conclude the day by entering the “Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve” (NATIONAL PARK), visiting the Siloli Desert at 4550m (the highest and driest in the world), and capturing a photo next to the ‘Rock Tree’ (a lava rock formation). Before reaching the final destination, stop at the overlook point by the Red Lagoon to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire the intensely red-colored lake. Spend the night at a shared family lodging in Huayllajara.
White Lagoon + Green Lagoon + Sol de Mañana + Hot Springs
Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - Start early around 5:00 am to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser (5,000m) and walk beside fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling mud at 150-200°C. Enjoy the opportunity to bathe in open-air Hot Springs with water at 35°C.
Next, explore the Dali Desert, where Salvador Dali drew inspiration from boulders scattered across the desert, and then visit the Green Lagoon (toxic copper water at the base of the towering Licancabur volcano at 6000m, near the Bolivia-Chile border). Return to Uyuni, enjoying the picturesque scenery and a picnic lunch along the roadside. On the way back, pass through Rock Valley, Alota settlement, and San Cristobal Village, where a baroque church and colonial paintings can be admired. Return to Uyuni town.
